How to beat Regulus?

Getting whopped

I played as UB against a Regulus/Oak combo, I was UB/Oak and Regulus went angel spec with snipe and basically just raped me the entire game. He wound up with 19 kills, most of them on me, vs my one kill, and Regulus wound up at level 19 by the end of it vs my level 10.

Any tips or guides out there on how to shut him down? Builds/Items/etc?

Wow sounds like he beat the sh** out of you. What ultimately killed you - Oak wearing you down and then a snipe, or could Regulus just solo you to death?

Also what build were you using - ooze or spit?

Ya we need to know more about your build/ items.

I like an ooze/hp regen stack build for my UB.  One key thing that many overlook is armor.

Armor is great vs oak and reg.  They tend to do auto attack, especially an AF reg.  You can quite easily get your armor to mitigate 50% of their normal dmg.

I know when I reg I end up speed stacking myself and doing MP then some HP/Armour. Usually keeping out of range of enemies, sniping and mining. Mining lets you level pretty quick and snipe is awesome at finishing off players or just assisting teammates.

I've found that the only way to take down a smart reg for UB would be to gain a sudden boost in speed and run him down or ambush him. They usually have low HP/Armour and don't really hit hard up close. Make sure you always run with enough HP so you don't get sniped in the back and also carry small HP pots around for when your HP drops low enough for you to get sniped. Once you get on the reg with poison claws, he is unlikely to escape, and if it looks like he is going to get away, grasp him, hit him more till his out of range, then spit, he should die then.

The only way to bear reggies is spit.. the only way to beat oak long term is Ooze... the answer is hybrid with spit taking early precedence...

Switch to a general and get cloak of the night, that screws em up. Very funny if you wait for the mines (with a none AA reg) and then jump just when they plant them under you. There like : Mwhaha my mines are under.... o fudge!

With a beast you will need help from a class with slows or stuns otherwise a good kiter will get you everytime.

I guess, unless they go random it might be better to avoid beast vs Tb/Reg.

Try Lord Erebus. Run toward him and use Bat Swarm followed by a friendly bite in their neck. If this doesnt make a Regulus piss his pants in fear I dont know what will

I usually play regulus, and Erebus / UB are by far the hardest.  Basically, the DPS types who do better damage than Regulus will win 1 on 1 unless ambushed by mines and/or snipe.

Which is exactly what a good Regulus will do...

Regulus is the easiest class to play against as a UB.  He has absolutely no counter to spit - He tries to kite you, just spit him and then spit him again, rinse wash and repeat.  Just grab the Blade of the Serpent and you can keep spit on him 24/7 if he tries to engage you.  If he lets you get close, a spit/grasp/spit really toasts him.

auto attack regs are powerful, however what you need to do is charge him when you have more health, if hes using mark get his hp to about half then use spit (auto attack regs dont typically health stack) ((even if they do they are much weaker)) after that grasp + spit and he really has no conter to it.

It really depends how the regulus plays. I usually get an item that gives health regen right off the bat and get the gloves to increase damage. With blade of the serpent I have unlimited mana early on. I can usually survive 3-4 spits before I have to run since my regen is pretty good and if I have a good ally with me I usually have no problems. I mainly go mines but for level 2 and 5 I get an increase in range so I can auto attack the beast and not get spat on.

So you can survive 3-4 spits.  Lets say you go after a beast, he opens up with a spit.  That means the third spit will come 15 seconds after the start.  You can't let the beast start attacking you (because he'll grasp you and then auto attack you and you really don't have the health for that) so at best you get to attack him for, oh, 10 seconds of that 15 seconds, the rest you are running away kiting. (assuming no cooldown flag) That means you shoot him, oh, 7 times and run back to the health crystal.  Man, that's scary effective.  If it takes an entire 4 spits (and you better hope you are both stacking more speed then the beast and that there are no snipes/any help incoming for him) you might get up to 9-10.  And thats assuming you manage to stay out of his auto attacking range, don't get grasped, and aren't getting affected by ooze.

Of course, since you have blade of the serpent it means he is faster then you - which means after the second spit you need to start running, because if he gets in range you are completely dead.  You get some protection from the tower at first, but towers don't last long against a spit UB.

Sure, if you have a good ally with you, you can do a 2v1 where you don't get your ass kicked.  But other then that?  The numbers just don't work.

as ub you really just need to get a speed advantage over them. i usually go a pure ooze build, so i can get inner beast and that thing that slows them down when i hit them earlier than a hybrid build, then buy health equips and a wand of speed. i stay out of their range of sight. turn on ooze, and wait for when they are throwing their mines on my grunts(or whatever) then wand of speed and jump them as fast as i can. usually i can get a kill and if not, make them have to retreat to their base to heal up.
