Frogboy 3 on 3 games!

Every evening this week!

Greetings everyone!

I just want to let you know I will be hosting Frogboy 3 on 3 games all this week.  Feel free to join up.  Games tend to fill quickly but we usually have a pretty good time win or lose. See you online!

I have played thrice in these games, and they are good.

First game was great my team beat Frogboys

But the second game Frogboy cheated:P .  He didnt play as Oak, so I didnt know what to expect.  His team won, and Frogboy played a mean LE.

The other game was abandoned due to mistery lag.

Great idea - I suspect the time zone won't be great for me but would love to join in.

Ahh well...my rant will certainly fall on deaf ears then huh...

C'mon froggy....~300 ping too much for you????

Isn´t there an engine delay for ~350ms? So you would have had 600 - 700ms delay.

I don't kick people for having a 300ms ping.  400ms is my threshold of concern.

If Stardock would stop dragging its feet on laying fiber optic cables directly from Australia to the US this wouldn't be an issue!

As you can see here, if you guys just laid a few more tbps worth of cable directly from Sydney to Los Angeles it would be more than sufficient to improve DG pings, plus the cable could also be used to play Hello Kitty Island Adventure.

We actually recently did set up a proxy server in Australia.  Ironically, Austraians might be better off using the proxy server because it has a direct line to the US mainland (fewer hops) than what the typical Australian ISP has.

It would be cool if someone actually ran some benchmarks as I think you'd find that an Australian playing a European, both on proxy servers, ends up with a LOWER ping than a so-called direct connect.

It's a pity that Demigod's initial networking launch was so horrible because the executed solution for it is, at the risk of being bold, possibly one of most advanced networking systems out there.  There's some amazingly sophisticated stuff going on behind the scenes.

Obviously, our system can't cure people who have low upload speeds (since Demigod does absolutely need around 128 kilobits per second on the upstream consistently at less than 350ms for an ideal experience) but that's not related to the back end system that got developed, largely from scratch, in 30 days. :)

I wonder if you could make money proxy'ing connections to other games too with your more direct connection. I know there's a lot of aussie warcraft players who would kill for a better ping.

If you didn't explore that idea before and it ends up making money you've gotta give me a hat or a hundred bucks or something though.
