Im Starting To Hate Stats..

Im Starting To Hate Stats..

I dont know if I liked it before when stats were 100% fucked, and so no one actually cared about them at all or if they are working well - now.

Too many people these days are playing purely for the stats. When I started playing Demigod again I pretty much played to get my stats up, but now I dont care. The less people care about the stats, the more games people will play, and the less they will care about who they are vs and who they are with - and whether they win or lose.

Tbh I wish I could just turn my stats off and play with noobs/agaisnt pro's, but I cant, because if I do it effects my win% and thats how people judge how good you are.

Anyone else here starting to get fed up with stats?

Are any of those actually good games with respectable ladders?
End of quote

AoK = one of the best RTS ever released.
CCG  = one of the best RTS ever released.
CNC3/KW/RA3/BFME II = Good RTS - not as good as ccg/aok.

But yes, they are all very good games. And whether they have respectable ladders depends on the person's opinion. I just named a few them there. AoE3 also does this too and its a very good RTS imo. Im sure there are lots more too

Since the overlay I have avoided countless pug stomps. Its to the point of silliness. There are so many premades who only want to pug stomp, and that give all premades a bad name. Additionaly there are many random pugs who try to stack one side so it is a stomp.

1 - I'm really glad to see someone write "random pugs who try to stack one side so it is a stomp."  All too often its just a generic comment about premades doing nothing but trying to stomp some pugs.  I'm glad to hear someone that generally pugs recognize that pugs show this behavior as well.

2 - I'm pretty sure EVERYONE here has been in a game that could be considered by some to be PUG stomping (whether you are in premade or a pugger).  Here's a crystal clear example where tperge, after the overlay beta was released, played in a PUG stomp where the odds where stacked substantially in his favor - http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/game/1014272/player/43878/.  Here's another http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/game/1014304/player/43878/.  Both are examples from Oct 9th.  Sounds like I'm busting chops here, right?  I'll add that I'd bet that he doesn't typically play in PUG stomps and more often than not, plays in games against good opponents.  Nevertheless, 2 examples of PUG stomping from a day ago.  I dare say that sometimes people don't check stats or care to balance the teams because they just want to get a game in.  And I honestly don't have a problem with that at all.  Once the official overlay goes live, even new players should quickly learn that they might want to avoid >80% win rate players that are all on the same team.  If it helps PUG players avoid matchups againsts teams and get more balanced games in, I'm all for it and I'm glad the official version of the overlay will go live soon.  Anyone know of a specific premade that plays ONLY against new players to PUG stomp?  I'm not aware of any team that does that...

Thank you for that post, I know you are not picking on me by pointing out those games.  This is absolutly not a premade only issue, as many pugs do try to intentially stack teams. Often I only want to get into a game and will sacrafice some balanceing to do so, on my side or theirs, but I am not dishonest about it.

However from what I have seen there are certian premade who go so far as to put "noob only", or "no premade" in the title, or refuse to boot noobs  so that the teams are more fair.  I cannot name any offhand, but I think we should all start to take note of them, and single them out.  THEY are the problem.  Not the vast majority of the community.

I remember a game name with "no premades". I joined it, and the host and his team were premade. Its ridiculous...

I hate stats because theres a constant pressure to do well and win of course... cause you hate getting shit stats... not that Im trying to be a stat whore... but I know so many people will check stats and kick otherwise...

And Im sorry...

But if I do a 3v3 and I get teammates who dont know how to play and I lose because of this its BS.... it totally ruins my stats... it gets so annoying that I keep getting players who dont understand the concept of having health.... or regulus' who dont understand an early game snipe is very helpful.... or a rook who has less HP then the other teams Queen... like these things are horrible.... Ive had a few decent games where we just got out played or outbeat... Ive had others where its fucking terrible allies... and mind you Ive done some bad playing myself or given up a few deaths where I should of played smarter....

Then there was the game the other day, I didn't check game settings because well I figured like most they are normal... some guy has tower and creeps mega strong and gold maxed out... I had torch which sucked for this... and the other team who had host did sedna and was very gay just flag capping and she was impossible to kill.... If I had known I would of made a wicked assasin character... I hope this game didn't coutn but if it does it blows...

Stats are great... but there should be a place to play without stats being recorded... because my stats were decent before reset, but I took a break, came back and keep getting horrid allies...

indeed, not all games should count towards stats (favorable) or not all the stats should be made public.

here is why:

i hate to lose a game because of my own or my teammates stupidity and at least the risc of the latter can be reduced by stats. sometimes when i am relaxed i dont care to lose or i have time. then i dont care if i suck and take i.e. sedna which i'm really bad at and/or play with beginners or try to talk to others to balance the teams (also thats only possible with some stats). so imo the first solution (not all games count towards stats) is the best. if i'm in the mood for some fast and fun game i join a "no stats" game and dont care if we lose or my teammates suck (there still are the notes to mark somebody as cool or rather not cool). and if i want to play some challenging game i join one with experienced and good players (stats and notes to check), take a character i dont suck with and do my best.

but actually every game counts and most people judge by the win %. if it drops some players wont play with me anymore but i like challenging games with a strong team and a strong opponent. really hard to get with a lower win %.

well there would be a third option: change the attitude of every player...

Having skill in the game is less important toward your stats than having skill in sandbagging.  If there was ever someone who actually had 80% wins without ever having played as a premade or having looked up his teammates' and opponents' stats, he'd probably be a cheater.

I completely agree with this... intentionally deceiving (eg lying in your game name) is not cool.  I've recently had a premade join a PUG ONLY game I had up.

I'd have more sympathy there Pacov, except that you and FutileEmotion isn't exactly a bad team :P  I don't know why the two of you wouldn't WANT to take on a premade.

hehe.  I didn't really have a problem with playing against a premade as a PUG - But, I do have a problem with joining a PUG game as a premade, noob games as a premade/good pug, etc.
