Was fuer ein Scheiss game aufgrund der miesen Connection

Sins geil genial .

It was a lot worse when the game came out, and a lot has been done. Honestly, the weakness of their initial release made me worry about the company, but at least they are conscientious enough to update their stuff after it goes out.

我認為Stardock做一個了不起的工作。 他們的比賽是優秀的。

Oh man :D. Net schlecht, grimuk.

omfg :D, not bad grimuk.

i dont know why you change the original to make fun of a fact that is sad enough. that he played over 600 games (what was not part of the original post) does not change ANYTHING. what op wrotes is absolutly TRUE!

and he mentioned he hates the game because of the bad network-code and support. that does not means that the gameplay does not makes a lot of fun to him what motivated him previously to paly so much.

how many games is "correct" to play before the frustration about the worst network-code and worst mp-infrastructure a mp-title EVER had may overshadow the pleasure of the gameplay? 10? 100? 200? 600?

you can ignore those facts so much you want. that's exactly what gpg seem to do: ignoring the major problems. sd seems to not be much better. hence we face maybe the smallest community a mp-title ever had. in 90% of the games i play EVERY player complains about the laggines or stuttering or disconnects....

i really love the gameplay but this game is programmed like shit.

what do you expect from a customer that payed money and waited over an half year for fixes and only got promises for modding support, the LEAST thing that this game currently needs? sorry, but such posts as of the op are the results of gpgs and sds own work and behaviour!

edit: you are sick of such posts? then imagin how sick most customers are of this situation and the ignorance to this from the responsibles. most have already leaved the community.

Yeah tell them CelMare! i agree with everything u said k5

Just take a look here.

If you don´t have the setup for minimum system requirements than don´t blame others.

you are kidding? you mean the reason that nearly all players "enjoy" the worst network-wise behaviour in online-games history is due to all of us having bad inet-connection? well, i think all the people already left due to this problem were also playing with old-school modems, right?

that is exactly what i call ignorance.... there are so many complains about this, so many already left and then comes one up posting minimum system requirements. WTF?

p.s. btw. i played dow 1 over modem (the old phone 52kb modems) for nearly a half year and it went far better then in demogods best moments. now i have 15MBit download and 1MBit upload. edit: and dow was by far not the online online game i played with that modem. there waere other rts games and other games.

I believe the beta overlay causes big connection troble, because it worked fine before I had it.

propably these games didnt have peer to peer infastructure. i dont want to defend gpg since imo it was a bad idea to not make the game having server/client net architecture (i mean: 5on5 shouldnt only be possible theoretically), but perhaps its now less money consuming to host the central server so they can keep it up alive longer and put more money into development instead of the hosting! well i dont know what the reasons are but there must be an advantage.

no, to make it p2p was the only best desicion they made. some of the mentioned rts games indeed hat host/server based architecture. but that was not my point. the reason for this trouble is still not the p2p architecture. in fact p2p architecture REDUCES HEAVALY latency. of course only if 1) done right 2) if there are working routs between the players.

because of problems that sometimes occure to point 2) they added proxy-support. this basically ads server-host functionallity to demigod. if two cannot connect to each other someone else or a dedicated server is hosting the game for that person(s). this is also a very good idea.

but all this does NOT explain the bad behaviour we all observe as there are quite many other p2p rts games out there that perform FAR BETTER!

edit: to make it a bit clearer: using p2p you need the exact same amount of download traffic but x-times uploadtrafix (x being number of players). you cut the response time on actions by half.

now, some assume that the upload traffic to e.g. 5 other players (in a 3vs3 game) may be the problem. well, i have a network-meter on my system and i can assure you that the traffic amount by dg during a gameplay is redicules low. not even close being dangerous.

edit2: additionally i am still wondering why i have pings to people in my country that are at least twice as high as i have usually pings to people in other country in most ohter games. the best ping i saw in DG was something over 70ms. in any other game i am sued to pings arround 25-60ms. rarly getting 100. and they are most times NOT in my country.

@ntropy. well maybe but since i didn't observed any changes since i use it i doubt it. but i observed some new problems since last patch as some other did too.

Actually, only the connection itself is proxied. There is no dedicated hosted game for that person.

@ntropy: what problems are you referring to? The new overlay increases the amount of data sent from the server to you. In the past the messaging system between the ImpulseReactor and the client caused the client being flooded by lots of data, which was interpreted as an opentear attack by some routers, firewalls or ISPs. With the help of the community Stardock rebuilt that messaging system and reduced the data that is sent per packet and the data is more split up. The new overlay probably increased the amount of data again so that old problem may occur again for some people and Stardock may have to look at that again, before they release the new overlay officially.

If you really do experience a problem because of this, you should definitely report it in the Demigod Overlay Beta thread at least.

that is exactly what i ment. proxieng the connection is nothing more or less than hosting the game. imagin you proxy all connections by the same proxy server. what do you get? a host. the only difference is that you still have x-upload connections to the same host instead of one that may be multiplyed (more or less).

proxing a connections is basically like hosting from the traffic point of view.

Yeah I know what you mean. But I wouldn't mix these terms together so much, since some people might believe, that the "host" is then calculating the sim for the "client", like in a real server - client environment, which is not the case for Demigod.
