hey - i just want to add to this as well. Ryan CAN be a jerk, but I don't think he's using he desync exploit. And even if if he did AT ONE POINT... perhaps this can be considered as a warning.

well geeze i didn't ever think this would blow up into such lively debate.

few points;

1. i lose games, if you look at my recond i have a fair amount of losses. i also have a large number of rage quits (due to lag out and...rage >.>)

2. i'm not really that competivite, i've on a number of ocasions tried to get 3v3 rook/qot battles set up and other odd game types but i've only been able to find willing people every so often. (btw i still want to 3v3 rook on crucible.)

3. i've noticed some people comment about an astrict next to NA games. well what happens in those cases are the game asplodes due to that lagout bug and two people get stuck and you leave or the other guy leaves and the stats get messed up. there have been quite a number of posts commenting about stats not showing up as they should.

4. if people are questioning my recond and saying that i Dysincith games, i play all the damn time. if i'm such a monster why aren't there any posts about this? you wouldn't think people would bitch like hell if they thought they were being scewed out of a game?

long story short i didn't do it.

Here's my simple thought on this. Belier and Apika did not give rats ass about the community or the game. They were determined that so long as no one was willing to stop them from exploiting, THEY WILL EXPLOIT. They have been banned. This decision was not taken lightly by SD.

SD - PLEASE do not take the decision to ban other individuals lightly either. I am really glad that you are able to ban, but please SERIOUSLY CONSIDER who you ban. Ryan is attempting to respond to this post and should be given the opportunity to do so WITHOUT having his account banned.

And FYI - I don't know Ryan outside of a few games here and there and the forums. I don't really have a vested interest in this other than I'd want to be treated fairly if I was accused of intentionally desyncing games to keep my stats.

LET'S BE CRYSTAL CLEAR: RYAN - DID YOU INTENTIONALLY DESYNC THE GAME MENTIONED IN THE OP? If yes, do you agree to NOT behave that way going foward (if so, I think a WARNING is in order). If no, do you agree to NOT desync in the future AND refrain from implying you are causing desyncs, even in jest?

SocialistRyan may be an immature player (as he has clearly shown here on the forums) but that's no reason to get banned. Also his stats (aside the high disconnect ratio, but Apika had only 5 disconnects) do not really indicate a desync exploiter, ihmo. If Stardock has clear data which incriminates him then ban him, if not:

Please do not ban innocent players.

Ummm, I don't think he should be banned at this point without FURTHER evidenciary support, i agree with Pacov when he says a WARNING is in order, I mean, apika and belier had a couple months of warnings in many different threads(Although i find the reason this took so long were legal matters since SD, as far as i know, hadn't dealt with banning for exploitation)

But i believe that screenshot is hella close to being "clear data which incriminates him"

so lets get the facts correct here;

i have twice as many losses as the person who posted this. i've played 11k minutes and ONE person has said they think i MIGHT have caused an error with no one else corroborating the story and i get banned. i get that your upset that people are abuseing the system however you banned me b/c of your frustrations and not on any acutal evidence.

also the ban was carried out in less than a day, hardly time for any meaningful debate....i got banned for something i was THOUGHT of doing but not proven and it was one case out of like 500 games.

furthermore lets look at this ban; the game was lost due to a lag out on my team's side, meaning the lost would have been to a game error not to skill or anything of the sort. so even if (lets assume i did it) then, it STILL would only be invalidiating a game that was lost due to the Peer To Peer system.

i still believe that cooler heads will prevail and this will all be cleared up by the end of the day.

As an active Demigod player and someone who follows the forums closely and has NO affiliation with SocialistRyan I would like to see him reinstated. In my opinion banning him is a mistake and sets a terrible precedent.

I wasn't going to comment on this thread but I also think it is premature to ban SocialistRyan. It smells too much like a witch hunt.

Having looked at his game list, forum post and considering his win percentage I don't see any reason why he should be banned. If there was atleast 3 seperate cases then maybe.

Comparing his game list to mine, I wonder if I'll be next on the chopping block given that I have an 84% win ratio and a ton on N/A and incomplete games.

Having said that, I suspect that SocialistRyan was banned earlier today before Frogboy said IT would review it so this may be a case of not waiting long enough for IT to complete their audit.

Wow, I'd say all this has gone a bit too fast. I mean, not even one day from original report. I want to think IT guys have reviewed the case in depth before taking such a hard action, though.

I wouldn't like to be banned for a silly in-game comment, although it seems SocialistRyan game history looks a bit suspicious. I'd say some more explanation is needed here from both sides. My humble opinion...

That said, I think that banning him on one screencap and an accusation was a bit drastic. He even said "I'm sorry".

He's lost plenty of times and he hasn't desync'd in any of those, hence the reason why I highly doubt that he actually desynched in the game listed.

I believe that banning him is going to start a witch hunt where one person simply has to accuse another of being a 'witch' and the penalty is carried out.

Please un-ban SR.

First off, for you guys saying, Oh, i might be next to get banned because i have an even better win percentage then SR...

The Reason he is banned is because of the comment, and the Desync, not because he wins more then he loses, or quite a few players would be Banned for being to good, this is not the case...

I think had SR and other friends who play with him alot had posted sooner, then Frogboy would have listened a bit more, and he wouldn't have sent in the request to ban, Frogboy only had people going against you when he sent in that request to ban...

Not saying, he did it, he did it, he did it, *BAN*, was the way to go since you didn't get to defend yourself before it was requested that you were banned, but awfully strange coincedence that effed you outta $40-$50...If you do get unbanned, i can guarentee it will be quite awhile before you make ANY comment in chat ingame, lol

I also believe that Frogboy was pressured into banning so hastily because of the way everyone took to Belier and Apika, he felt that he needed to get rid of the bad seeds and quick, or the game woudl just die...

GL with this SR(Lol, tristan, jk, i like that name), i hope you get unbanned...(Even if you did inv. gamestate it, i would have given warning...)

'winning too much' is clearly not my opinion, but that was probably a contributing factor to why he was banned. If he lost every other game, most likely he would not have been banned since the evidence that he was NOT a desyncher is obvious: those losses never would have happened and there would be a lot more threads discussing this behavior.

And to answer your question, Sarmis. Yes, you are suddenly suspicious. I recommend not joking about causing desyncs.

disappointing, there is no prove at all. was a replay viewed?... i doubt it, you cant even view chat log in a replay.

if he did do it, its not his fault anyway, its the games lack of functionality that is the problem.

I do not know of another game that you can purposely disconnect all players at the same time, by an individual crashing their own game on purpose.

The screenshot is pretty damn convincing to me as well. Just to clarify, it's not about the guy's W-L record, or his teammate's records, or how he has behaved in his last 100 games. It's about a desync happening right after someone said that they were trying to cause one. Part of the crime here is one of stupidity--that is, someone was dumb enough to state in writing that they were going to try to cause a desync. That alone should justify at least a temporary ban.

In any event, I'm glad to see SD taking this serious. However, the game does need to be fixed so that people can't cause this error.

The reason we are bringing up win percentages is because it was brought up in an earlier reply as a more likely reason to be guilty.

He was dumb for saying so, but just saying so isn't bannable. Ryan talks a lot of smack, and if thats what this was about I'd be okay with it, but he does NOT exploit the invalid gamestate glitch.

We don't know how long before the invalid gamestate Ryan said that. The logs are not timestamped, you can see a message from the beginning of a match at the end.

Invalid gamestate errors happen more often when people drop/desync/what have. I would say it was more likely his team mate that caused it from the drop.

Well we all came to his defense pretty quickly. I certainly didn't think a decision to ban someone would be made within a couple of hours.

Furthermore, I think that when Ryan typed "?" as you can see on the screenshot, that was his way of saying that he didn't cause the dysync.

I don't think Brad is going to be pressured into anything I think SD only recently got the ability to implement bans. This would explain why Belier and Apika were on so long. I know SD staffers were aware of them for quite some time (2 months or so) and it was crystal clear they were cheating the system. So, now that they are able to ban, the hammer comes down extra hard at first. The fact the SD CAN and IS WILLING to ban should act as an excellent deterent going forward.

To me, that's good enough. And even if he did cause the invalid gamestate (still don't think he did), I'm reasonably confident he wouldn't intentionally cause it again... especially considering he's well aware that SD can and will implement bans. So, if SD is willing, I'd hope they'd un-ban him. I'm also hoping that they are able to unban someone pretty easily if they want to do so.
