Dude chill its not the game.  Sounds like a video driver issue.

Sorry to burst your bubble that is not the game, its your computer/labtop.

like everyone else said...plus you shouldn't play in windowed mode, or alt + tab once you start playing....

Hmm.....go through Stardock/GPG's official technical support for help, because you never know; it could be something on your computer that is screwing the game up. In fact, that sounds like it could partly be the sound issues that some people get; I dunno what causes it, but a friend of mine used to get it on his rig. The game would run fine on high at 50fps, then drop down spasmodically to 10-20fps and start hap-slashing between 50 and 20, and turning down sound quality and messing with sound settings tended to help the problem. I fixed this by doing the /nosound fix in his shortcut, and voila! It worked without any lag on highest at 60fps. My computer doesn't have the problem, but it could very well be because I've got the latest drivers/ have an ATi graphics card. And also, my friend's computer is pretty much as good as mine is now (his can run GTAIV pretty well) and he upgraded his GPU, and no more problems. This could very well be directly related to graphics cards not handling sound and the processor being heavily taxed by that, and this 'sound' issue was also evident on another game that used the same engine; Supreme Commander.

Frankly, if this is the issue, there's no real way you can fix it properly unless you want to play without sound (which sucks bad). I, personally, have an ATi Radeon Gigabyte HD4870 with 1GB Vram, and I have no issues with the game whatsoever. I know this isn't the full issue, as you are getting visual glitches as well, but it could very well be part of the problem. Do you have any sound issues at all? If not then the rest of this post is useless X| Heheheh. Make sure all your drivers are up to date and stuff; that white stuff is obviously a problem with your graphics card (or something unidentified). Then again, some games just don't like some computers, and that's unfortuneately the way it works. So I'm sorry for that, but the best thing for you to do is contact Stardock or Gas Powered Games' official support and hope they can help you with the problem.

Works and has always worked fine for me. Just because it didnt work for you doesnt mean it's an issue for every install of DG. Every GPG game has worked flawlessly for me. (Except DGs initial connectiivty, but that didnt last long)

Realize your system isnt a representation of every system on earth. Plus your username has me feeling you didnt even buy the game to begin with. If that is the case, then I'm glad it isnt working and hope you spent HOURS trying and failing repeatedly.

But if you did indeed buy it, sorry it's not working. 9500 isnt exactly an amazing card though.

Try also to update the sound driver or try to play the game with the /nosound option http://forums.demigodthegame.com/348389 to make a test if this is the problem.

If you haven't already, please close Demigod and follow this link in Internet Explorer:

http://sd.stardock.com/Demigod_report.zip

Save the file, run it, and attach the .zip file (located under YOUR USERNAME\My Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Demigod\report) it generates to an e-mail to: [email protected]

Some email services restrict .zip attachments.  If your email won't allow you to send the file, simply change the file extension from .zip to .zzz, and it should send without issues.

The 9500Gt is...okay

Right now, price/performance, sub-$200 range is the HD Radeon 4890

These benchmarks include ridiculuous amounts of entirely unneccessary pictures, but http://xtreview.com/review229.htm

But here's a picture that pretty much exemplifies everything:

And these are old benchmarks. A 4850 is a perfectly fine card, and a steal for your buck if you're looking at the ~$100 range

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150337&cm_re=4850-_-14-150-337-_-Product

Right now, nVidia cards aren't really worth it, IMO. The GTX 260 performs about the same as a 4870, yet there's a $20 difference in price. ($180-200 for the 260, $150-175 for the 4870)

All of the above mentioned cards are much better than a 9500 GT.

Every time I have read something like this, it was because of a problem with the persons computer, not the game. The video card is not the only thing in your computer, and therefore not the only source of a problem. We need complete details to be of any real help.

Try going to run ( or if youre on vista/windows 7 just type it in the start menus search ) and type dxdiag.exe and press enter.

If you are on a 64bit os, make sure to select "Run 64-bit dxdiag". next, select "save all information" and save the file somewhere you can find. Then upload it here. This will help us see exactly which video card, video driver, sound card/driver, cpu, HD, etc. that you are running.

Also, I can see you are not using the latest version of Demigod. It would definately be a good idea to update it.

Well, at least he posted in tech support.  260 GTX is also a great card.  Try playing in non windowed mode in the mean time and let us know if that works as a temporary fix for you.  And the reason you are getting some negative replies is pretty easily your original post.  Best of luck.

Hmmm.....well your graphics card isn't the best in the world.....and you obviously don't have sound issues with the game.....

I have no idea about what's causing your issues dude, and frankly your graphics card isn't exactly the best in the world. It's alright, and it serves you well, but Demigod can be very taxing on computers; especially the big battles. I'm still not sure if it's partially a graphics card issue or entirely something else, so I think you will really have to work with Stardock support to fix the game. You need a positive attitude if you want to play the game, and deciding not to do anything about it will only be a waste of your valuable time and money. Maybe consider buying a new graphics card like the above posts have said, especially a GTX 260 or a HD Radeon 4000 series card (I have the 4870 and it's brilliant). The best thing to do, however, so that you don't potentially waste money on a GPU that won't help the problem is to do a dxdiag, again like above posts have said.

I hope all this helps!
