And sarcasm does have trouble coming across in text. I guess that's why it's called satire in literature. Then again, you have to deliver it in a slightly different way to even begin to carry it across on paper. Guess that's why the authors that pull it off get such high praise.

banned for thinking I was ironic. I just figured I would throw the non-native English speakers into the pit and (depending on how well that sarcasm came across) see what happens.
As for the joke not being funny, see my above take on sarcasm/satire.

Well, I dont know about everybody else, but at least it was obvious to me. And the smiley did help. In fact, if it wasnt for that smiley, I would think that he was serious.

Then it became a conversation and I was part of that conversation. Not really a care as much as just addressing the subject at hand. Really, this is a ban game, so the chit chat is pretty slim pickings. If we didn't have these attached bits of conversation, it would just be 'banned for (insert word)' and I would either leave the thread or pick a fight just to see shit go down.
I dunno. Maybe I'm too conversational.
Banned for by the way. Even though for the magority of colonial the W,I was french, the last country to hold power over it was Britain. So up until about 1950 people spoke french. Then our grandparents refused to speak it anymore for various reasons.
Anyway even though the natural language of most WI is creole. English is in fact the official language.
However I agree that Xer0's joke failed
