Direct3d

When I try to start Demigod I am getting the error:

"Unable to create Direct3D

Please ensure system has current video drivers"

I've checked to ensure I have all of the updated drivers, and checked that all of the settings that I know how to access are turned on.

The following are my specs:

HP Pavilion dv6000

Intel Dual core T2060 @ 1.6 GHz

Plenty of free hard disk

1 GB RAM

Graphics: Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family

251 MB Graphics available.

Now I realize the graphics chip is a little weak, but I checked your website before I bought the game and the chip does support Pixel Shader 3.  Do I need to turn down the graphics on the game somehow? How can I do that since the game will not start as is?

Also I used "DXdiag" and on the "display page" it says that Direct3D acceleration IS enabled.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, not sure what to do from here...please advise.

Thanks,

John

I'm not sure where you saw that the Intel 945 supported SM3; it does not. The only Intel chipsets capable of attempting to run the game (ignoring performance) would be the 965/GMA3000 and up.

If a different/new/upgraded machine is not an option for you and you purchased via Impulse, you can contact [email protected] about a refund since you were mistaken about the system requirements. Please note though that as the office is closed for the holidays it will take some time for them to get back to you.

Hmm, Intel's website says that pixel shader IS supported on the 945.

Are they lying or am I reading it wrong?

I see it saying it only supports shader 2.0

Correct, the 945 only has SM2 (and partially CPU emulated at that) and the game requires SM3.
