The modding community

Does the modding community seem to be dying out now a days?

No one plays mods because we don't have an effective means of implemeting them. Better implementation will yield more mods.

^^ This, the way mods were handled in demigod are god awful.  FPS games learned a long time ago that you have autodownload mods when the person tried to connect to the game.  Hell even starcraft did this and that game is over 10 years old!   Some days I wonder what game developers have been smoking, its like they forgot the last 10 years of advances in games.

Continuing from the previous post:

To SD/GPG

Autodownload would be fantastic, but even through impulse really would be useful. For example when i am sitting in lobby waiting for ppl to come playtest with me i get pms by ppl who wanna play. Currently they have to go find the mod on the net and work out how to install it, if i could send it throought the pm system it would make a 20 mintute saga turn into a 10 second one.

I love this game and would like to see it continue or even increase in popularity, pls give us more options for modding to help the community contribute :)

I think probably they had planned to release Demigod for their own and use GPG.Net like for Supreme Commander. AFAIR Stardock got late into the game as GPG was lack of money to finish Demigod (something like that) and therefore the Impulse stuff was added quite at the end. GPG.Net had a Vault where it is quite easy to search and download maps and mods. So there would have been an easy possability to manage these things. The only problem was that it is buggy, so some things like versioning of the mods do not work. Though the system worked much better than searching the mods in the forum and then install them by hand. The vault downloaded and installed everything for you.
