Demigod just arrived from amazon same day as community pushes Stardock over the edge?

Hi All

I might be a real raw noob (game arrived in the post today), but after seeing comments from Istari

A lot of melodrama over very little.

As others have pointed out, the new release hasn't been announced yet. A few tech-savvy users looking through the history notes figured out the mechanism.

The announcement and store link were scheduled to go up today but the plan has changed to simply add it to everyone's accounts with the consequence being that there will be no additional demigods or maps added since it is pretty clear that the amount of hostility would overcome any value of the additional content.

After all, if this is the response of a free Demigod being added to the game one can only imagine what the response would have been to content that cost money.

and Frogboy (http://forums.demigodthegame.com/373670/page/3)

Update 1.20.147 is all about oculus!!! Unlocking him and making him work is also part of the f...in update.

Jeez sometimes i feel that we are playing diffrent games. How can people be so blind to so obvius and outrageus mistakes from stardock.

Yeah i know they are not Blizzard. And guess what they never will be. This never will be another warcraft  becuase they are soo lazy to put even tiny chagnes in the game.

It's really hard to take people serious who don't realize that Stardock isn't the developer of the game. And btw, GPG did an amazing job with Oculus and he's free.

I can say though this is the free content Demigod is likely to get. No one wants to deal with the community when it comes to new releases. It's a good group online but in the forums, good grief.

To make it easier, I'll ask them to just add Oculus to everyone's account automatically. The idea was to find out how many active Demigod users there were who were willing to go through a store page to add a Demigod to their account.

it sounds like they've had enough of being criticsed..........so no more new maps or characters? How come there hasn't been more comment on this in the forums?

Hope all the trolls are happy now X( .

edit - for some reason I can't get the first quote box to work....

just use [ quote ] at the start of what you want to quote and [ /quote ] at the end (without the spaces that are in mine).

simples.

IMHO, as was said in another thread, trolls were just used as an excuse.  the game is still fun to play so congrats on the purchase

Thanks,  it was just a bit disappointing to see this whole affair blow up a few days after I bought the game...

you are giving this more weight than it deserves, of all people you have the most content to discover.  Out of now 10 dgs i extensively played only 3;).  You'll be fine so long as you get past the noob stage where you get kicked from games that are above your paygrade.  Since you are reading the forums already im sure you'll know which games to start at and will progress faster using the strategy section, gl buddy

so no more new maps or characters?

Well, nothing has really changed re: maps or additional characters.  There are no pending maps or additional dgs.  Brad's been pretty up front about this.  On the bright side, SD now has a way to sell DLC for Demigod if they wanted to.   AFAIK, though, nothing is in the pipeline.  We are still scheduled to get a version 1.3, but that's quite a ways off I'd think.  And 1.3 is supposed to have clan features or something to that effect.

As I'd wager you are not used to it, SD has a somewhat different approach in how they handle games than many other companies.  It has its pros and cons.  On the pro side, we generally get the CEO of the company (frogboy/draginol/brad wardell) sharing updates with us and providing behind the scenes info.  On the downside, because he's actually involved in the forums and the community, he often gets pretty heated by people acting like jerks in the forums.  Suffice to say, people from SD have walked away from the forums for a time because of some rotten apples, but they generally come back.  Having Brad on our side means we still get all the behind the scenes information and various updates.

Frogboy was saying when Demigod first came out GPG was contracted for 1 year of Demigod updates. I'm sure after that 1 year is up we'll never get another GPG update again.

Or they'll give it to a SD dude to fiddle with in spare time.

I just don't understand why they've got so upset by some people complaining and being critical on the forum. In a customer service industry, you are going to get that type of thing all day long, should be water off a ducks back by now to them.

Please, please, please Stardock, don't let the minority spoil it for the silent majority! Often the most vocal people on forums are the most vitriolic and nasty!

I've been playing computer games for over twenty years, this is  a GREAT game, nothing is perfect and there will be problems along the way, but these problems do not stop DG from being a GREAT game even with bugs here and there (granted I wasn't playing from the start so can't comment on the early problems). I just don't know why they changed Pantheon to Assasins V Generals? Killed it in my opnion, although getting rid of the AI was good.

Stardock are a business and the only way to keep having this game developed is to pay and to continue to pay. Who is expecting or demanding free content, not I.

I downloaded the demo a few months back, thinking it was going to be sub standard drivel (no offence!), it sat on my hard drive untouched for a month and when I finally fired it up was amazed at how good it was, like the feeling of watching a movie you know nothing about, thinking it's one thing and then it totally flips and finding it's fantastic a la Dusk till Dawn.

BTW are there really 3.7 million people registered on this forum? Seems popular enough to me.....

The credit card is twitching......

I don't buy that reason. I think what happened is just an introduction, a softening of the community of sorts. See, the Stardock contract with GPG is up, and all Stardock now has is the game. GPG up and went with Steam for SC2, and it seems like it's only multiplayer aspect is available exclusively over Steam... This was all done so people are used to the suck when they suddenly notice no new content IE maps or Demigods are being released.

Oh, and as a crowd control measure so people stop bitching :P
