DEMIGONE

Besides other demigod issues previously why is it that this game along with the junk that is impulse so difficult?  The same game with similar problems on three different OSes (XP, Vista, 7) and different hardware?!  Never again will I pull a game off the shelf with this impulse garbage.

Installing the game from the DVD-ROM on a fress 7 install with updated patches, drivers blah blah blah.  First thing...impulse needs update.  You updated it and go round and round while it keeps asking to update.  Try and run the game and it says impulse needs updating.  It's broken with the retail copy of demigod.

I download impulse_setup.exe (6.71MB) with digital signature of 02/03 and it can't update.  Another download of impulse_setup_full.exe (29.2MB) with the same date and STILL it tells me I need an impulse update.  What garbage is this?  The auto update doesn't work and you're think the available download links would have the latest.

So now I'm stupidly waiting on impulse to download a 2.13 update of the game that I know wont work as I've had issues with it in the past with other OSes.  It will get to the end and then compain about some invalid digital signature.  PURE GARBAGE BS.  Another 1GB to go!

I'm also downloading individual files from implodeanywhere...SLOWLY.  I have to do about four at a time because it will blow up...great system there.  I'll have to update this way since it's the ONLY way it will work.  The really SAD part about this method is that it takes a REALLY REALLY REALLY long time for the game to install this way.  I've done it several times before wit the updtaes and it's PURE CRAPOLA!

This is very, very poorly written. You don't use topic sentences at all. It took me so long to figure out what you meant. If you're having problems with a program 99% of the time it's your fault. Just try uninstalling and reinstalling impulse, then it should be able to update properly...

End of quote

Because the world hastes you and your PC. See since 99% of users have no issues with Impulse and you do, it must be a problem with Impulse and not your equipment, thus Stardock and GPG must hate you personally.

BTW...spell check is your friend.....

That means you are doing something wrong... Impulse usually works really well especially compared to most Digital Clients... calm down and email stardock support (I don't know the actual address sorry)

Please do the following within Impulse:

-Click the blue menu button in the upper left
-Choose 'Preferences...'
-Click the 'Reset Data' button
-Close impulse and relaunch it. You may notice a long update time, which is normal as it is rebuilding the deleted info.

If that doesn't work, email [email protected]

My favorite part of tech support is that when someone has a problem, in their mind, EVERYONE has the problem.

I've never experianced any of these issues. I'm not saying you are not, but you are not the only person on the planet, buddy.

Thanks for the reply but unfortunatley I've tried various suggestions and the Impulse update never happens.  I'll launch Impulse then I get an update is available, I click yes and then it goes up to 100% and then it's supposed to automatically restart Imulse since I have the option enabled.  It doesn't.  I close the client and then it starts all over again.

I've attached the box directly to the ISP router with the same result so it's not being filtered on the network.  I've gone through various firewall logs and see nothing being blocked; rule sets are correct all othe games work including my latest Dragon Age:  Origins which was purchased via physical medium and updated via downloadable independat patches.  Bypassing as stated before doesn't help.  The issue persists even though it's a new load of the OS.  Is there an issue with systems joined to a Windows domain?

My only "fix" has been going to http://anywhere.impulsedriven.com/ and manually downloading the 2GB+ files every time there was a patch.  Except this time Data File 8 shows it's 250 MB but only 25.1 MB downloads every time and Data File 9 shows 180.88 MB and 0 B downloads every time.  So now I can't even update the game or play on-line because of this new issue.  I sure wish you guys had direct links to game patches with managable sizes like every other game I've ever played since the early 90s.  Now where's that FTP site with direct downloads?  I'm trying to keep it legit here and can always hit the Bay and any torrentz.

BTW I have an XP box that exhibits the same exact behavior and can't update the version as well.  And it's not the local host-based AV because this box has used SAV 10.x CE and now SEP 11.x.  I've uninstalled it and the issue remains.  The 7 box has SEP tried updating pre and post installation.

If someone can fix http://anywhere.impulsedriven.com/ then I'll resort to doing it the slow and painful way, because it's the only way it has worked here.

Isn't the lastest version of Impulse available for direct download?  The version I get is v.3.24.488 but when I launch it for the first time it's trying to get v3.24.489 according to the error log.  I grabbed the file from the error log (had to hack it) and then extracted and replaced all the files in the Impulse directory and still get and error upon launching that it want's to update.  Build (1637) is showing.

Oh Great now no files download at http://anywhere.impulsedriven.com/.

Here's the error log before and after copying over files:

My god man

Start -> control panel -> uninstall a program -> select impulse -> uninstall -> re-install Impulse -> open impulse -> let impulse update -> grab a soda

If it doesn't work, reinstall it, if it still doesn't work, update some drivers, if it still doesn't work, reimage it. <- (This will solve 100% of software issues)

We've seen a lot of repeat MD5 errors caused by bad system memory in most cases.  Try downloading something like memtest86+ and checking out your RAM.

RAM is fine.

What about http://anywhere.impulsedriven.com?  The last two files are still bad.  Isn't there anyone that will check this out?  I can't even get through anyone on the phone.

It must be something on your end. Other (including me) have no problems with the files downloaded from Impulse Anywhere. How many passes did you let memtest run?

Sorry to say but you do realize that downloads are failing MD5 it's something on your end. It's one of those all or nothing kind of things. If there was something on our end, it would be all users would run into it.

I've run into this elsewhere. I had a ThinkPad where the wireless card was corrupting bits here and there in the name of "compression".

You think Demigod is difficult? LOL

Maybe the MP, since some players are super-good, but I play Single Player with Nightmare AI. If you have some experience with RTS games, this is pretty easy since you don't need to worry about managing resources or unit management.
