This thread has been created for the purpose of tracking results in the April/May 2010 2v2 Demigod Community Tournament. 

Current status:  WINNER! - King_Of_Thorns + Zen_God

Round 1a began at 5PM on 4/21/2010 and ended at 11:59PM EST on 4/30/2010. 

Round 1b began at Midnight on 5/1/2010 and ended at 11:59PM EST on 5/7/2010.

Round 2 began at Midnight on 5/8/2010 and ended at 11:59PM EST on 5/23/2010.

Round 3 (SEMIFINALS) began at Midnight on 5/24/2010 and will end at 11:59PM EST on 5/30/2010.

Round 4 (FINALS) began Midnight on 5/31/2010 and will end at 11:59PM EST on 6/5/2010

Players responsible for hosting and scheduling their own matches.  Then, the winning team must provide a replay and a link to the pantheon stats here for tracking purposes, for every game played.  Please feel free to use this thread get your matches scheduled.

There will be a need to disqualify teams that aren't making the required effort to get their games in without penalizing another team that's doing whatever they can to get a match scheduled.  It's probably best if teams that are trying to organize matches go on record in the forums.  For instance, if I was playing against say AtMa and Ba, I'd post something like the following in this thread:

Atma + Ba:  trouser and pacov are generally available M-F from 5pm EST - 1AM EST.  Please let us know if some time in that slot would work for you or recommend a time slot that works.  I'll PM you in a few days if I haven't heard from you or we can discuss this on lagwars vent. 

Something like that.  If it comes down to disqualifying teams because they didn't get their match in, the more info and tracking you have indicating that you did your best to get the match scheduled the better.

Here is the FINAL bracket  - UPDATED 6/5/2010

Tournament Rules:

  • You may only select characters as indicated in the grid below:

  • Each match in the tournament will be the best 2 out of 3 games
  • All matches will be played on cataract with default settings (the only exceptions being AI HP on Very High and AI Gold/XP on low)
  • After teams are formed, they will be randomly placed into a bracket to determine who will fight who.  Everything will be random initially in round 1.  In the following rounds, the winners from one game will play the winners from another based on location in the bracket starting from the top on to the bottom.
  • Each team will play 1 round on light side, then 1 round on dark side.  If there is a 3rd round, the team that had the fastest win in game 1 or 2 gets to pick the side they want to be on (keep in mind the following rule).  
  • The team that is on the dark side must pick their characters and ready up first.  Then the light gets to pick and the dark side does not have a chance to adjust their characters. 
  • To track your wins, you must do the following - post the replay at gamereplays.org.  If you have issues with gamereplays, upload the file to rapid share and provide us with a link.  Also, provide a link to the match in the pantheon and let me know if its a win or loss.  The winning team should do this for each and every match.
  • UberFix 1.02 must be used (http://forums.demigodthegame.com/374315).  UberFix is a mod that fixes many of the bugs in Demigod.  Check the modding forum for everything that is fixed by UberFix 1.02. 

How will we handle crashes:

If there is a game crash, the players involved in that match should see if they can come to a consensus on the probable outcome of the match.  If there is no clear winner, the 2 teams should replay the match using the exact same demigods and sides (light/dark).  If there was a clear winner at that point in the game, then that team should be awarded the win.  If the 2 teams disagree on the outcome, a third party will review the replay of the match and render a decision.  Be aware that the 3rd party must agree that a specific team was going to win or the results will be thrown out and the match redone.

How we will handle invalid game states:

The lastgamereplay file is still created in the event of an invalid game state, so it is still possible to review the results of a match.  In the event of an invalid game state, players should attempt to resolve the issue exactly the same way as game crashes.  If you believe foul play occurred, submit the replay along with any screen shots, etc, as evidence and we will review.  If there is a CLEAR consensus that a team is willingly triggering invalid game states, that team should be disqualified after a thorough review of the facts. Please be reasonable, though.  We all know that Demigod has its bugs and its still pretty easy to encounter an invalid game state even if no one has intentionally triggered it.  If your game does crash, it might be advisable to take a screen shot of the crash as proof.  Be aware that we know invalid game states can occur without any sort of foul play, so please be mindful when submitting requests for review. 

Prizes:

Outside of prestige in our small community, there is also a cash prize thanks to community contributions.  The total (and probably final) amount paid for this tournament is $200.  If you would like to contribute to the pot, please pm me and I'll get you the needed info to send me a payment.  If individuals do not come through on their pledges, I will not be personally covering the difference.  My goal is to collect the pledged amount before the tournament starts and I will be providing updates as I receive the pledged money.

Hedgie, do you want to take Teseer as your partner?

I'd love to still play, but I'm starting a 72 hour shift tomorrow in the Land of Bad Internet and our match is already overdue... If we do get our match together, then we will be at the mercy of random periods of unplayable lag spikes, random disconnects, and people randomly setting shit on fire getting in the way of our game.

What should we do man?

I'm not even sure if Teseer can play. Didn't he just ditch Kestrel? :P 

I've got shred_demon on Skype. He either hasn't accepted my friends list or he just hasn't been on at the same time I have been (which matches with what games are listed in pantheon).

Our match isn't overdue yet? We still have tonight. It ends 7 PM Friday your time. We weren't even talking about playing until Saturday anyway and as I noted before, I may not have been able to do that. 

Ideally we can get the game going up tonight... we'll see if they show up or not...

Mith / Renz vs Koll / Naur.  MITH / RENZ WIN.

 

Game 1: was invalid, but Koll / Naur conceded afterwards to Mith / Renz, who had cats @ were @ the valor flag while Koll / Naur couldn't afford cats or succeed at pushing them out.  Was a decent game up until Mith / Renz got beyond lvl 10 where they pulled ahead.

Not terribly exciting 2nd game, Koll / Naur don't get currency, and game ends before 20 min. @ the end, Koll / Naur lost out on 4k gold each for not getting currency.

Wish it could have been more of a show but I think Koll got a bit nervous with the tourney.  Goign to take a break from the game for a while.  Thanks for the Tourney, it was fun the least.  I'll be in to check replays of the finals!

Well Orcun already posted when he is able to play, and said that Jona can play pretty much at anytime. Though he was pretty uncertain of Mcshanes schedule. Ive also posted several times that I am able to play at anytime from Wednesday to Sunday morning. I am just waiting for the summons.

With regards to the teseer/ke5trel game against rawrrrr/kalel - I'm a little disappointed.  I'll start by saying I'm not upset with Ke5 at all.  He explained himself just fine and did his best to be available.  I think alot of us in the community are looking forward to these matches.  For instance, I was super excited about naur/koll v mith/renz.  I would have been very bummed if that match didn't happen either.  I'm in the same boat on teseer/ke5trel v rawrrrr/kalel.  Is there anyway you guys can still get the match on?  I'm certainly willing to give an extension here if that will help.  I think several people in the community feel the same way as I do and would love to see this match.  So, if its possible, pretty please, make it happen.  If not, Ke5trel has gone on record indicated that he'll forfeit and that is that. 

Side note - another week or so and we are going to start talking about the rules for the next tournament.  No eta on the next tournament... but even if I'm not going to organize the next tourney, I'm going to get the framework in place for whoever will take over for me.

I didn't say anything about Jona being able to play. I have no idea about his schedule. I only said i ll be able to play and i left the vent open all day today and checked regularly to see if you guys were showing up. I guess jona wasn't around.Well, no problem. Tomorrow i ll be on from 1pm to 6-7pm probably.  i'll keep the vent on and check regularly again. Saturday i have to work all day though, so i can only be online late and that i can't really promise.

I feel like an ass-cock. :\

I hate being ditched, and I hate doing it to people just as much. If there was any way I could of been on, I would of been there. I've been looking forward to playing this match forever. I was DYING without internet wanting to practice, then when i get it back and working...bs happens and I kill the chance to play. 

Ugh. Oh, and I have swollen lymph nodes on my neck for some reason. Just noticed that this morning and thought I'd mention it for TMI.

Can Teseer, RAWRRRR, and KalelSMX do Sunday night at 9 EST or so?

@Teseer - norries, man, RL happens and definitely takes precedence.  I'm operating under stress right now, have a big certification exam on the 14th which is taking all my free time.  Sorry for the over-reaction.

@pacov - thanks for the extension, hopefully we can make magic
