This thread has been created for the purpose of tracking results in the April/May 2010 2v2 Demigod Community Tournament. 

Current status:  WINNER! - King_Of_Thorns + Zen_God

Round 1a began at 5PM on 4/21/2010 and ended at 11:59PM EST on 4/30/2010. 

Round 1b began at Midnight on 5/1/2010 and ended at 11:59PM EST on 5/7/2010.

Round 2 began at Midnight on 5/8/2010 and ended at 11:59PM EST on 5/23/2010.

Round 3 (SEMIFINALS) began at Midnight on 5/24/2010 and will end at 11:59PM EST on 5/30/2010.

Round 4 (FINALS) began Midnight on 5/31/2010 and will end at 11:59PM EST on 6/5/2010

Players responsible for hosting and scheduling their own matches.  Then, the winning team must provide a replay and a link to the pantheon stats here for tracking purposes, for every game played.  Please feel free to use this thread get your matches scheduled.

There will be a need to disqualify teams that aren't making the required effort to get their games in without penalizing another team that's doing whatever they can to get a match scheduled.  It's probably best if teams that are trying to organize matches go on record in the forums.  For instance, if I was playing against say AtMa and Ba, I'd post something like the following in this thread:

Atma + Ba:  trouser and pacov are generally available M-F from 5pm EST - 1AM EST.  Please let us know if some time in that slot would work for you or recommend a time slot that works.  I'll PM you in a few days if I haven't heard from you or we can discuss this on lagwars vent. 

Something like that.  If it comes down to disqualifying teams because they didn't get their match in, the more info and tracking you have indicating that you did your best to get the match scheduled the better.

Here is the FINAL bracket  - UPDATED 6/5/2010

Tournament Rules:

  • You may only select characters as indicated in the grid below:

  • Each match in the tournament will be the best 2 out of 3 games
  • All matches will be played on cataract with default settings (the only exceptions being AI HP on Very High and AI Gold/XP on low)
  • After teams are formed, they will be randomly placed into a bracket to determine who will fight who.  Everything will be random initially in round 1.  In the following rounds, the winners from one game will play the winners from another based on location in the bracket starting from the top on to the bottom.
  • Each team will play 1 round on light side, then 1 round on dark side.  If there is a 3rd round, the team that had the fastest win in game 1 or 2 gets to pick the side they want to be on (keep in mind the following rule).  
  • The team that is on the dark side must pick their characters and ready up first.  Then the light gets to pick and the dark side does not have a chance to adjust their characters. 
  • To track your wins, you must do the following - post the replay at gamereplays.org.  If you have issues with gamereplays, upload the file to rapid share and provide us with a link.  Also, provide a link to the match in the pantheon and let me know if its a win or loss.  The winning team should do this for each and every match.
  • UberFix 1.02 must be used (http://forums.demigodthegame.com/374315).  UberFix is a mod that fixes many of the bugs in Demigod.  Check the modding forum for everything that is fixed by UberFix 1.02. 

How will we handle crashes:

If there is a game crash, the players involved in that match should see if they can come to a consensus on the probable outcome of the match.  If there is no clear winner, the 2 teams should replay the match using the exact same demigods and sides (light/dark).  If there was a clear winner at that point in the game, then that team should be awarded the win.  If the 2 teams disagree on the outcome, a third party will review the replay of the match and render a decision.  Be aware that the 3rd party must agree that a specific team was going to win or the results will be thrown out and the match redone.

How we will handle invalid game states:

The lastgamereplay file is still created in the event of an invalid game state, so it is still possible to review the results of a match.  In the event of an invalid game state, players should attempt to resolve the issue exactly the same way as game crashes.  If you believe foul play occurred, submit the replay along with any screen shots, etc, as evidence and we will review.  If there is a CLEAR consensus that a team is willingly triggering invalid game states, that team should be disqualified after a thorough review of the facts. Please be reasonable, though.  We all know that Demigod has its bugs and its still pretty easy to encounter an invalid game state even if no one has intentionally triggered it.  If your game does crash, it might be advisable to take a screen shot of the crash as proof.  Be aware that we know invalid game states can occur without any sort of foul play, so please be mindful when submitting requests for review. 

Prizes:

Outside of prestige in our small community, there is also a cash prize thanks to community contributions.  The total (and probably final) amount paid for this tournament is $200.  If you would like to contribute to the pot, please pm me and I'll get you the needed info to send me a payment.  If individuals do not come through on their pledges, I will not be personally covering the difference.  My goal is to collect the pledged amount before the tournament starts and I will be providing updates as I receive the pledged money.

My thoughts to the final:

First game:

Tb + beast are stronger late game with that crazy acclimation against Occulus and Torch bearer.

2nd game:

I got crazy lucky and rawr unlucky :D (or were you oom?) Also koush's AA reg is the best AA reg I have seen.

 

To the tournament:

I think TB and Beast were the best combo overall, that could only be countered with queen and rook.

Also we have to think about better rules of who has to pick first. The winner of the first match has an extremely big advantage if it goes to 3 games.

Congrats to Koush and Zen on their victory.  I'll update the OP as soon as I get a chance and I'll notify you as soon as I send the payments out via paypal.  I don't know how long paypal takes to process, but I will submit the payment Sunday (eg sometime within the next 24 hours or so). 

I haven't chatted with Kalel, but thanks for getting your match in.  I think I can speak for everyone that participated or is just following along in the replays that we're glad the final match was played.

Moving onto the future - here's my plan for the rest of this thread.  I'd love to get some feedback from people that participated in the tournament.  What crap did we get wrong/what do we need to change in future tourneys.  Then, I figure I'll close this thread down and we can start another one to discuss what we'll do for our next tourney (3v3, 2v2, etc etc etc).  I think before we even finalize the format of the next tournament, we can come up with some ground rules to resolve issues we encountered here and there.

First game was just a slaughter for lack of interrupts and the late game weakness of Oculus. Oh and Kalel/RAWRRRR didn't upgrade creeps.  :(

Why so speedy Zen God? Boots of speed, journeyman's treads, and fire aura lol.  :P

I think RAWRRRR made a bad decision going for fire and ice, but the game was pretty much over by that point.

It was a pretty fun game to watch, congrats on your victory Koush and Zen!

my bad. the replays aren't worth watching.... I was up for ~30 hours and then slept for 3 just prior to the tourney, and it shows :/  Hooray IRL and the worst day to do the tourney.  But gz on your win.
