fetal error

i have been having problems running demigod i have owned it since it came out and it didnt work for me then, so i gave up. now i am trying it again and it still does not work. i start running the game and everything works but then as i am in the middle of a game i get a fetal error. it says something about a hardware device has been removed or something. (i cant see it all the time because it just crashes and i cant get to desktop or other windows so i have to reboot)

i am running windows 7 64bit professional, i have Nvidia geforce 8800GT sli, intel quad core 2.4GHz, and 4 gigs or ram. what could be my problem?
