Man the #*($& up

Man the #*($& up

A) Play random PUG games, like all real men do :)

B) Some peeps need to STOP crying about generals vs assassins.  Enjoy the game more.

Some of the most memorable games are 2 regs and a TB against 3 t1 generals on random.  We lost, no surprise, but we tore them up and the desperation of our situation evolved some crazy ideas.

Hell, last game we'd universal gadget our "bait" guy leading the greedy SOB into 12 mines.  Little mark of the betrayer and a dual snipe for flavor and the other team wouldn't chase us much anymore.

We've used items I haven't used in a loooong time, if ever.

Get out of the "T1, must win, must stack teams, must rage if we don't have a general".  Join random and suck it up, sol-jah!

I dunno, maybe I should try vent again.  Everytime I lurk on vent, it sounds like a few unhappy people bitching and getting passive aggressive digs on each other.

But some of the guys on here prove my point.  I like DG where it's random and unbalanced, so my team is throwing down ideas.  "Orb of defiance on a bait guy?", "What about we chain swap him back so he's afraid of the towers?", "Ok.. ok, you tank out and I'll keep gadgeting u to keep you alive". etc.  THAT's fun :)

The "What if they get 3 rooks?!" stuff proves my point.  I've never seen that.  It can happen.  But it doesn't normally, and people act like they should never try because it MIGHT.  I don't miss the games of "Ah, we got no general, I'm quitting!" or "They have a 8.8% increase in attack speed, so this is pointless"

I prefer unknowns in my game so it's fun for me.  I hate playing a game like an accountant getting paid to do work.

But again, I think the difference is level of player.  I'm in the "casual" side.  I have time for 2 games tops, and then I'm still running late to go.  I come back later for a few more games before bed.  Other players take this seriously, but I'm not trying to get into that group and they're not trying to get into mine.

I go back and forth between extremely competitive and casual.  I honestly don't know anyone else on lagwars that can fit those shoes, but that's how it is with me.  Anyway, simply consider it an open invite to join us for voice chat from time to time and, for your part, to welcome lag wars folks to your game when they join up.  Its really not a big deal.  I play on smurfs accounts from time to time, simply to get games going and have played with you MANY times without my buds.  I fall in the category of folks that simply want to play the game and not have a 20% chance to win because they have a new player with them. You are a fun guy to play with that doesn't cheat.  Good enough in my book.  So, come play with us and jump on lagwars whenver you want.

Final note - stacking teams is boring.  I'd rather have a low win% and get to play more often than a high win% and have people accusing me of stacking, etc.  I also find that people whining about stacking are often complete idiots - they join a game with 1 slot open and then bitch about a stacked team.  How the heck do you even know a team got stacked?  Last I checked, people don't join games and get assigned to sides based on skill level.  They join and simply end up where they are.  Anyway, I personally don't see the benefit of stats anymore.  I like to win, but I'd rather lose at this point, just so I can get more games in... that also probably means something is wrong, but oh well.

Thanks Pacov.  lol, wish I knew what your smurf name was now.

I'll try to join.  Last 2 times it was 2 guys arguing and I didn't jump in.  Something about summoning bishops in time.

I almost exclusively was a pugger for over 1.5k games. The last 800ish games I have played have been on vent and boy do you get better games, better competition and meet some nice guys with Vent.

lol!  You guys will make me paranoid.  "Hi Bob, how are you AREYOUREALLYHEDGIEORPACOV?! today?"

I probably like DG better with ignorant bliss.  Get on vent and I discover how much my teammate really loathes me for not going optimal build.

We need to play more Cinders. TB talks about you all the time.

I usually only join your all-random games and it's been a few weeks, if it makes you feel better.

Soccer-Mom and I played a random game yesterday where we both got Oak. It was incredibly unfair to the opposing team, who had no generals.

Demigod is really a gentlemen's game. It requires effort from both sides to create a fun game. The entire community needs a period of detente to end the Cold War build up where one side chooses UB, the other side chooses UB, one side chooses Oak, the other side chooses Oak, until every game ends up as Oak/UB/Erebus.

all random sux.  A lot.  The rare "fun" games you acquire from it are offset by the ridiculous number of slaughter games.

We should host "pick shitty demigods or I kick you" games.

I'm so tired of the same 3-6 demigods over and over when we have 10.

should also do games with different settings... I've always been a fan of filthy rich, high gold, fast game speed, xp high, and / or warscore low.

I really like high gold and rich settings.  Filthy rich is a bit OTT and often ends up being that annoying race to the artefact flag :/

But yeah, high gold games on Zikurat and Leviathan are REALLY my thing  ;)

just got to do it on a map like exile then :P  Artifact shop for everyoneee.

Exile is even worse than crucible D:

I hate maps with random crystals in the middle. The map maker was obviously thinking, hey, these will be important places where players duke it out! But they just turn into a chain-locking fest where one side fights with infinite health and mana.

pfft.  But then you get perma artifact shop.  Exile just has a different strat.. and both sides have the availability of a mid crystal.

The strategy is to start with a lock and amulet of teleportation as rook, and constantly teleport between the two crystals keeping them in your posession with tower farms as long as possible so that you level up much faster and always win fights. It's kind of stupid if you ask me. At least on mandala the crystals are so far from the general action you can't just refuel in the middle of a battle.

This.

Random games are bad ass fun.  The "the worst could happen therefore I won't" attitude is no bueno.  My brother does that for life.  "If I learn to ride a motorcycle, I'll end up buying one and then get run over and be a paraplegic for life, so I don't want to!"

SOME random games go badly, with the DGs and teams being out of whack.  There is ALWAYS a period of fun, though at later levels, it may fade as the numbers build against you.

MOST random games go well.  There is little effort to check everyone's ratio, balance (cough, whine, cough), etc.  Decent players on both sides that claim they can play any DG.  Then the rule of averages works out for us.  Most games are strangely close to DG balance.  Some are very off, but then the players make up the "numbers".  The easy mode team gets lazy, selfish, and cocky.  The 3 regulii team gets desperate and communicates.

That's when the fun happens.  That's when guys give away money to each other, make one a decked out killing machine with orb of defiance (nuke protection) while the other 2 uni gadget him from behind while throwing mines, demolishing one enemy at a time.  Sometimes you still lose; sometimes you win and that win is worth 10 "good games" of super balanced teams (cough), optimal builds, T1 dgs, etc ad nauseam.

A lot could be solved by not using all random, but instead doing one random general and two random assassins. It's much more fun. Sure, it could work out so that you have oak and two beasts vs. queen/da/reg, but hey, it wouldn't be random if you didn't.

I would like a random mirror match mod that randomizes the characters but makes both teams have the same setup so it's completely fair and fun.
