First one: sometimes i cant join a game, and the game says: "success" and leaves it with that. Subsequent logins wont work either.
This can happen sometimes when someone hosts a game and their game crashes, for whatever reason. It can also happen (this is the more typical reason) when person A hosts a game. You (person X) logs into demigod and sees all of the lobbies available. Person A quits the lobby they were hosting. You, because you haven't refreshed, still see person A's game up, but its no longer hosted. The result is that generic "success" message. Maybe you've found some other cause for the problem, but I've been around for a bit, and that's typically all that happened.
Then, since the last patch, i occasionally (and more often recently) get the 'this action requires you to be logged in on impulse', after i complete a match (mostly if someone left the match prematurely), after that, i cant do anything netbased on Demigod for a couple of minutes.
I've never seen this error before.
And found another: after the logged in issue, i cant log in entirely. For mor than ten minutes now. Thats the most annoying part.
This has happened to me before, but is generally VERY infrequent (but always annoying when it happens). There are a couple of possible solutions. 1 - wait 2-3 minutes before trying to log in again. 2 - wait as long as it takes. 3 - email [email protected]. It could very well be a server issue. I know, not the most thrilling bit of advise, but those are the only ways I know how to handle this myself.
Another one, the 'invalid gamestate' "cheat". Plz make those invalid gamestates count for the stats, so that less stat-emphazised players leave the game, thus abandoning it for their team. If you want to know how to do that cheat, feel free to pm me (support only), i know how to, but i wont post it here. I hate ragequitters
GPG (they actually develop demigod - stardock just publishes it (BUT can request fixes from GPG) has made some progress with the invalid game states and have actually fixes a few things that trigger them. Unfortunately, there are still some ways to intentionally trigger them to use as exploit. HOWEVER - the also do happen from time to time as a result of player crashing or just having connectivity issues. So, yes, they absolutely suck - but just keep in mind that it might not be a player intentionally rage quitting or trying to exploit the game you are playing in. I, too, would love to see all of the exploits fixed and this bug in particular.
Just some feedback for you based on my experience. Always nice if someone from SD wants to chime in though.
