Is this game still worth getting?

I was looking into this game but it seems to me that there is almost no community anymore and dev support is out the window. I've played LOL but that game is starting to get boring and liked what I saw with this game. Was just wondering if there were games to be played.

Thanks,

Shadow

There are routinely two or three games being made when I log on, but it can be difficult at times.   You'll probably have to start your own games in the beginning and take some lumps.

Sigh, just make sure your net connection isn't crap like mine... I keep losing connection in games.  Sorry guys.

Sadly no, demigod had a good run, but all good things must come to an end.

Yeah, maybe blackmage is right.

I swear I can't get into a game because I have 16 games and a winning record.  I'm either a noob or a smurf account.  It can't be that I've put in some time on the forums, played some noob games and am an ok mid level player.

I would still be happy with the game even if I never get good enough to play online.

Its a mixed bag - demigod is one of the most enjoyable games I've every played.  But its also a complete pain in the neck.  You can have some fun with SP initially.  MP will be rough for you at first.  Host noob only games while you are getting the ropes as you will be kicked from most if not all NON noob games that you join.

The game is still expected to get a "free series of updates from GPG" but we have no idea what that means or when it will happen, etc.  I'd say definitely pick it up if its on sale.  You can easily get $10 bucks of fun out of this.  $20 is pushing it unless you really get it into it.  I've more than got my money's worth, personally, but I've been around for a bit.

it's like smoking cigarettes.  Should you start?  No.  Are they enjoyable?  Yes.  Are there problems that come along with smoking?  Yes, but for some reason you keep doing it promising yourself you will quit soon.  At least.. that's been my relationship with Demigod.  Actually.. Demigod has increased my smoking... fuckin game.....

Even if you are getting the game now, when the community is fading, if you have a few friends you can get into it, you can still play enjoyable games for quite a while.

It is one of the best games I have played.

It's the best $5-$10 you can spend on a computer game once you get started.  The gameplay is awesome.  De-syncs and bugs, not so much.

(Great analogy with the cigarettes !!!!  I swear my blood pressure goes up every tough game.)

Right on then.  I'm sure we can find you some help in learning.  If you find you are impatient in picking it up, you can buy it online directly from impulse for $19.99

Gamestop has it for $9.99

It's a great game, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

It has it's faults, as do all games. DG just got kinda small with it's issues, that's all.

Don't buy it if you plan to play online. I can't login to my account, nor can I create a new one, and a buddy of mine who has had the game for a week now is having the same problems. Clicking on the "Retrieve Password" or "Create New Account" button causes the game to shut down; nothing else happens. There has been no response from Stardock Support regarding this issue, so I can only assume that either online is not supported anymore and/or they are no longer allowing new players to create new accounts.

online play is still supported cause we are still playing online and your dg account is your impulse account and there still accepting new impulse accounts cause every game they sell yu need to have one to buy it or use it

If you have issues logging in, just send an email to [email protected] and have your buddy do the same.  They will fix you up pretty quickly.  Seriously, the game shouldn't be avoided because of login issues.  They'll fix you 1 time and you are good to go.

he supposedly did do that a week ago.  His thread was posted then and you told him to do the same back then.  Or perhaps he's just being a dick and doesn't want to actually figure out how he messed his game up but rather wallow in self pity.  One or the other.. meh.

Anything over about $10-15 is a rip-off.

Demigod is the best game I've played online.  When the teams are well matched, it's outright exhilarating and addictive.  However, the online community is dead; it was never big in the first place.  You'll spend more time waiting in lobbies than actually playing.  And it seems that the community, such that it is, has gotten a bit ruder and more immature over the past few months (or maybe I've just grown less tolerant).

In the absence of a stream of additional content and updates, a good editor would have breathed new life into Demigod.  But there is no editor, so you can't even expect much in the way of mods, except mods that tweak numbers, stats, etc.  I still play single-player with Peppe's AI mod, and it's fun.  However, it's not enough to recommend the game to anyone, especially if you can't find it for $10 or less.

No, it's not worth getting anymore. It's a great Multiplayer game (the best i ever played), but support stopped long ago, and the online MP community is almost non-existant, so it would be like buying a beatiful ivory chess set without having anyone to play with.

Now, if you find it for 5$ or less, go ahead, it's worth that just for seeing the gorgeous graphics, characters and scenarios they crafted, and the great gameplay and skill trees they designed.

You won't get anything out the singleplayer portion of the game worth more than 5 $, and MP is dead unless things change dramatically from the developers side, which is highly unlikely.

This is the time when a smart developer releases a free version of the game to attract new players, but smart developers/publishers are scarce these days :\

Meh...I still feel a re-release and a serious update schedule could breathe a whole load of new life into this game and introduce a a lot of new players.  The game still looks incredible and the gameplay is miles ahead of HoN and LoL (I own both these games).  But the game does feel a little abandoned tbh given the speed that gas powered games provide updates :/

For $10, assuming no more updates, still worthwhile imo.
