The purpose of this thread is to contain discussions made by the decision making panel pertaining to the 2nd Demigod Community Tournament.  Per the rules and registration thread http://forums.impulsedriven.com/396231, here are some more details about the panel.

Decision Making Panel

This tournament will be governed by a decision making panel consisting of pacov, McShane, hedgie with jongalt as an alternate.  The panel's purpose is as follows:

  • Review any scheduling issues and making the final decisions with regards to disqualification. 
  • Reviewing replays as required (crashes and desyncs)
  • Resolving any disputes that arise

The panel's decision on all matters will be the final word for this tournament. And last, the members of the decision making panel will not make any decisions on the games they are playing in.  We didn't have a panel in place for the first tournament and that was a mistake.

So, if you have a game that requires reviewing, etc, please post here.

Current discussion:  What team combinations will be allowed in the final 4?  Discussion over.

quick summary

team 1 v team 4, team 2 v team 3

All games are best 2 out of 3 elimination. So, we only have a semi-finals and finals round now.

Whatever team is on light in game 1 will choose from the list of acceptable team combos.

Whatever team is on light in game 2 (teams will rotate sides) will choose a different option from the list of acceptable team combos.

If there is a game 3, the remaining dg combo must be used.

Here are the combos:

QoT, erebus, UB
Rook-Reg-Erebus
ub tb erebus

So, we'll just make this quite official, then - and I think its a simple compromise that should keep all parties quite happy.

Teams in the final 4 portion of our tournament will have the option of 1) sticking with the original character selection rules or 2) going with the mirror match selection.  Before teams start their games, they will briefly discuss the option they want to go with.  If the teams do not agree, then they will stick the original demigod selection rules as listed in the rules and registration thread; however, once the teams have agreed on the character selection rules, they will stick with those rules for that match (eg either you stick with the old rules for the best 2 out of 3 or you stick with the mirror match rules for the best 2 out of 3).  These rules apply for both the semi-finals and the finals. 

That should hopefully take care of it. 

The semi finals MUST be completed by Tuesday at midnight (or at least be in progress at that point).  If you make it to the finals, you will be expected to play in the finals no later than Thursday at midnight.  If the games have not taken place by that point, disqualifications will occur.  Disqualifications will be determined based on teams making a logical effort to get their games in.  Hoping you get your game in and not being willing to schedule will result in a disqualification if you do not meet those deadlines.  The easiest way to avoid that is to simply speak with your team and make a post in the scheduling thread based on your availability.  I'd hope to see a little more effort than "we hope everyone is on when we are" because if that is all the effort that is put into it, you will likely be disqualified.  Avoid that by making an effort.

Yeah, i think heavy scheduling is the way to go if there's ever a "next tourney". That said, shceduling games to be played a Wednesday at 9pm EST would be as silly as this previous no scheduling thing. You have to take into account there are EU players as well as US players, so games should be scheduled to weekend days and at a reasonable time for both EU and US players. Just look at Darz/Iz/Darkliaths team, they've been trying forever to play their matches with very little success so far.

On the "next" tourney, i thought how this tourney should have been played DG selection-wise, and how a possible "next tourney" could be played. 3v3, 3 games, 9 different DGs in each team from the 10 to choose from, no repetition allowed throughout the match. That would actually be an interesting thing to see, instead of this boring UB/Sedna/Oc. combo over and over.

We will be able to play beginning november 25th. IamKira is working abroad and cannot play untill then. I tried very hard to schedule all the games before that, but it did not work out. (Darz PC was lagging, pacov had poker night, cow had to go to a study session, jon had to leave, Iz had to go to bed, and rawrrr's team disappeared completely after our first 2 games...)

However, as soon kira comes back, he will be on vacation and we will be more available to play games.

Yes I'm enraged.  Lol no, the offensive part would be if Zen were to say sure you guys walked all over us in our final 2 games but we think we should be the winners of the first round, so we're forced into defending ourselves again when we should just be getting on with it.

Well I think the demigod selections are overall okay. I think that removing Sed/Occ/Beast and allowing Erebus/Oak/TB might be the two things I would change. I think that Erebus/Oak/TB may become the "new" Sed/Occ/UB combination but I think that Sed/TB/UB would be able to compete with it as well.

Ehm what about free for all with only pick once restrictions. so If team a picks ub rook oak combo first game. they cant use neither of those three the second game. so 9 different dgs are played in 3 matches. I really do not enjoy this restrictions resulting in forced 2-3 combos.

edit: i think if we don't get another tourney following up this one soon community will shrink pretty fast again.

See, I would say keep the sed/occ/ub and add erb/oak/tb.  I haven't a match with those dgs v those dgs, but I'd think it erb/oak/tb would be pretty strong and a good possible counter for sed/occ/ub

Yeah I think that's the only way, because there will always be that one combo that is the strongest so far.  sed ub is hardcore.

so uh.... that's not really a good comeback Zen_God lol.  One game the person got 205 favor and the other team got straight 40's in less time than the other game where one person got 130 and the other team got points for multiple things.  Doesn't quite seem like your game link was steamrolled (p.s. I would have said the same thing if the teams were reversed.. I just don't think shane would have linked the game you did as a comeback for the one he linked :P)

Lol I think he did it because that was a remake game where we got screwed out of a win in the first one due to DC, so it does upset me more than the 2 silly victories which come to mind that he could have posted.

Hey guys - I want to post an update in the rules and registration thread as action in the tourney seems to have died down a bit.  It's my understanding that my team is waiting for a match against zen's team to see what position we are in the final 4.  I know there are some other matches to be had, but can someone quickly recap the action for the final 4 slots and let me know who we are waiting on?

Jon's team to play Rawrr's, and the winner to play Darkliath's for 4th place.  Hopefully they get that done this week and then we have the playoffs next weekend.  Since you and Zen are second and third you'll be playing again in the playoffs anyway so it's the 4th place spot holding us up.

Unless you mean the new team he's on.  In that case, I haven't seen Trouser on since a couple days after that alumni thing (unless osmeone else was on his smurf account... never said hi when I said "hi trouser").

Anyway, I'm out of town tomorrow afternoon until Sunday evening.
