The purpose of this thread is to contain discussions made by the decision making panel pertaining to the 2nd Demigod Community Tournament.  Per the rules and registration thread http://forums.impulsedriven.com/396231, here are some more details about the panel.

Decision Making Panel

This tournament will be governed by a decision making panel consisting of pacov, McShane, hedgie with jongalt as an alternate.  The panel's purpose is as follows:

  • Review any scheduling issues and making the final decisions with regards to disqualification. 
  • Reviewing replays as required (crashes and desyncs)
  • Resolving any disputes that arise

The panel's decision on all matters will be the final word for this tournament. And last, the members of the decision making panel will not make any decisions on the games they are playing in.  We didn't have a panel in place for the first tournament and that was a mistake.

So, if you have a game that requires reviewing, etc, please post here.

Current discussion:  What team combinations will be allowed in the final 4?  Discussion over.

quick summary

team 1 v team 4, team 2 v team 3

All games are best 2 out of 3 elimination. So, we only have a semi-finals and finals round now.

Whatever team is on light in game 1 will choose from the list of acceptable team combos.

Whatever team is on light in game 2 (teams will rotate sides) will choose a different option from the list of acceptable team combos.

If there is a game 3, the remaining dg combo must be used.

Here are the combos:

QoT, erebus, UB
Rook-Reg-Erebus
ub tb erebus

So, we'll just make this quite official, then - and I think its a simple compromise that should keep all parties quite happy.

Teams in the final 4 portion of our tournament will have the option of 1) sticking with the original character selection rules or 2) going with the mirror match selection.  Before teams start their games, they will briefly discuss the option they want to go with.  If the teams do not agree, then they will stick the original demigod selection rules as listed in the rules and registration thread; however, once the teams have agreed on the character selection rules, they will stick with those rules for that match (eg either you stick with the old rules for the best 2 out of 3 or you stick with the mirror match rules for the best 2 out of 3).  These rules apply for both the semi-finals and the finals. 

That should hopefully take care of it. 

The semi finals MUST be completed by Tuesday at midnight (or at least be in progress at that point).  If you make it to the finals, you will be expected to play in the finals no later than Thursday at midnight.  If the games have not taken place by that point, disqualifications will occur.  Disqualifications will be determined based on teams making a logical effort to get their games in.  Hoping you get your game in and not being willing to schedule will result in a disqualification if you do not meet those deadlines.  The easiest way to avoid that is to simply speak with your team and make a post in the scheduling thread based on your availability.  I'd hope to see a little more effort than "we hope everyone is on when we are" because if that is all the effort that is put into it, you will likely be disqualified.  Avoid that by making an effort.

Well i really don't want to do the sedna, ub, occ combo 6 more times in the finals personally. And i have a feeling most of you don't feel like it either. I mean i had one of the best games against Pacowsoc in the second round but almost all important matches went  with those combos and it got boring. So since it doesn't seem like we are getting to finals very fast, i think it would be nice to decide on another way to held the finals. This might also maybe give a kick to the tourney. 

So here is some ideas on what we could do.

1-Each dg can be picked once for all the rounds. each team plays nine different dgs.

2-Three different dg set up, all mirror matches.Community can decide on what 3 mirrors that should be played. 

3-Two different dg mirror matches,one free for all.

4-One match current tourney rules, one match a mirror, one match FFA.

5-Eliminate dg method: Teams ban dgs for the opponent team. The number can be from 2-4. 

6-we could use another map for one of the matches.

So we could use one these ideas or combine them or you guys will have some ideas too, i am sure.

And a question from me guys: I don't have the DG cd with me,and i am gonna get a new computer in a few days. So is there a way to freely install DG and play with my account? Or do i have to re-buy it on impulse ?
 
Let's get with the talking about this.  Happy to hear from anyone in the final games for feedback, but the panel will have the final vote.

Other thing, I vote we dq both jona/dark teams if they don't have their 2 out of 3 games played by the end of the night.  Anyone second?

Shane and I talked this over last night and we feel that ZenRandir, Pacov'sZexyMoms, and McOrchenz should make a list of 3 teams they would like to play as in the finals, post them in the decision making panel thread then anyone can vote on the 9 different teams to determine what the final match DG selections are. The finals will be 3 mirrors matches, 1 with each set of dgs.

I will post what me and Soccer mom came up with last night so you will just have to go with the flow pacov.... If you have any major issues with these teams we can revise them tonight but I think you will agree pacov.

My favorite is the first one off the list. And if we do that we should change the picking order system. We should make it like. Dark team picks one dg, light team picks one dg and so on.

 

If we are going for mirror matches i would say lets use DGs only once to have more variety. 

my proposal would be as follows:

-Qot,Ub,Reg (Sedna counters Reg hard with heal  so i switched sedna to qot here in order to have more action)

-Rook,Tb,Oak

-Erebus,Da,Sedna(or Occulus instead of Sedna)

Mirror matches are fine with me.  I'll likely not have any issue with whatever combos you fellas come up with.  Just come to a consensus and let's do it!

Also, we might need to setup a cutoff date for zen's teams to get their games in this week (I'm thinking no later than wed).  Haven't heard or seen them in a bit.

Wednesday's too late because then that leaves only Thursday for us to play you, I have an exam Friday night 7-10 and will be doing a lot of studying before that.  Tuesday is more reasonable.  If they don't show up this weekend they're not going to randomly pop up through the week and say hey let's play guys.

Also I forgot with the character selections, Zen's team is probably going to just forfeit if there is not a TB or UB in every combo for Kira to play.  I'm sure it's possible for him to play others, but he has like 10 total games with them combined.

I really don't think my team and mcshane's will have any problem getting our games in... even if we waited until thursday, though.  But whatever gets us moving is cool with me.  So, we agree that we drop zen_god's team if they have not played by tuesday night?  Correct?

Well I was hoping that we could just get a list of DG teams composed by each team in the finals.

That list would then have 3 DG teams selected from it by a voting process

Those 3 DG teams would be used in the finals, 3 mirror matches one game of each set of DG teams.

Yes - SCHEDULE.

Remember, the finals are best 2 out of 3 elimination style.  And yes, we should sort out the team combos by either tonight or midday tomorrow.  Team 1 vs team 4 and team 2 v team 3

Sry they wanted to play a third with dark on their team.   Um i dont know whos going to be on,  didnt rawwr say he was doing something with the  military.   If so then we need to switch nom our for rawwr because he will be playing the entirety of the playoffs if rawwr cant make it.

Save some time folks and get uberfix 1.03.  We will be using that for ALL of the final games.  I've been testing for about 3 weeks and there are no issues.  Only difference you folks will notice is that you can no longer see your opponents gold.

Mirror matches was apparently a suggestion (and a funny one to me because people got tired of seeing occ/sed/ub vs occ/sed/ub :)), but I really don't care.  Not a ton of time to fuss.  VOTE on what you want.  I'm up for whatever.
