It's a beautiful Screensaver, but I much prefer Deskscapes. Being on a security kick, I wonder if this screensaver mines your personal data... :S

In going through their website, I found no statements about guarding your privacy. That might exist in the installer/software license you 'agree to' before installing. I don't know. I did find that Norton reports it as suspicious. That could simply be a "false positive" as we've seen with SD software and other antivirals.

What does concern me is their statement:

"At the moment, we provide 3 editions of YoWindow

YoWindow for Windows
YoWindow for Facebook
Weather widget for your site or blog

In Facebook edition you can even look through your friends' windows."

I wonder about the "Social Networking" sites and your computer's vulnerability as well as your "Friends'".

In the second part of my online shopping security post, I make mention of these sites and provide a link you might find interesting HERE.

I'm not saying the software is malicious. It might be completely safe. It might, however provide a gate for invasion of your computer by "Social Engineers".

As always, "Caveat Emptor" (let the buyer beware) seems wise.

YoWindow End User Licence

Can't find any reports that Yowindows is malicious.

As for Facebook. Information on that site is just ripe for abuse, use it at your own peril

Hey, guys!

I'm the author of YoWindow.

If you have any questions you are welcome.

There are no malicious code insdie YoWindow.

However we are collecting statistics when YoWindow accesses our server with Google Analytics.

Just like a regular website.

Sorry, we are too lazy to write privacy policy document.

Don't miss Christmas surprises we have prepared.

There's a little trick you will probably like - select a cloudy/partly cloudy weather, make sure the sky is blue, then type "amelie" on the keyboard and see what happens.

At the moment there is only one living landscape - Village, however in a week we will release a second one "Seaside".

YoWindow is not just a Screen-saver as stated in the subject.

It is a full featured desktop weather application.

When YoWindow runs in background it can display the current temperature in Windows tray.

And you can even put YoWindow on a webpage, there is a Flash widget for website.

repkin, what about the vulnerability issue when "looking out a friend's window" on say, facebook?

So far I dig this. I'll run it today and see if there are any bugs. I unloaded OD and pinned most used programs to the taskbar. We'll see.

Quick go at using one of my photos for background. Take a photo and remove the sky and not bad for first go.

I see you guys like this.

This does look very nice and I used to run screensavers but I find if I'm not doing something on the computer I'm not sitting in front of it.  Much the same reason I don't use Bootskins or logons anymore, they are not up long enough to matter.

Now what would be nice is if this could run in an open window or a picture frame like DX Core Picture Frame. :-"

it does

Have it in a window or close window and just mouse over taskbar icon to see weather.

Cool :sun:

Now to see it I would run that vs DX Widget or ObjectDock Weather docklet.  They all are different in what they show you. :S

Hey repkin, I have discovered my biggest complaint about your prog. I was easily able to create my own landscape using the winter wall by Kol. The problem is that no matter how I size it I get black on the sides of it. This doesn't happen with the default Village landscape. The default is ok but us customizers are always tweaking as you know. I wonder what or if there is a trick to getting around the black on the sides? Would be cool if there is a solution. I'll still use the prog. but I don't want to upgrade from the free version unless I can get rid of that limitation.

If thats full screen size could try F11 or view Full Screen to get rid of black worked for me.

Smaller than full screen found needed to pick up sides with cursor and move them in to get rid of black sides showing

Or click bottom right hand corner of picture for full screen

Or wait for the man that knows. :)

repkin and crew have a good application here...it will catch on...Great work!

the app is still fairly new, thus the flags in Norton, just like with Stardock apps.

Hey everybody!

1. DrJBHL, there are no connection between YoWindow for Windows and YoWindow for Facebook.

YoWindow Facebook Edition is a separate product.

http://apps.facebook.com/yowindow

By "looking out a friend's window" we meant that friends of a user on Facebook will be able to check the weather in the users location.

When YoWindow app for Facebook is added, the user has control over whether to disclose his/her location or not.

Again when you run YoWindow for desktop (screensaver) there is no "social access" to YoWindow from the Internet.

2.Try to reduce the height of .png image, removing the sky portion.

YoWindow will adjust sky height automatically filling up the screen as much as it could.

Don't forget to adjust the horizon line in YoWindow.

3. RickJp and Chasbo: very nice job with landscapes guys :)

Guys all of you are very welcome to our forum to share with your suggestions or bug reports - http://yowindow.com/forum

That's what I wished to know.

By "looking out a friend's window" we meant that friends of a user on Facebook will be able to check the weather in the users location.

Why then would it need a separate app? Wouldn't just plugging in the friend' zip code be enough, or does your app have room for only one zip code at a time? Does the additional app just add another zip code?

I guess it was the way "looking out your friend's window" was phrased made me think there was some sort of 'remote access' going on.

Worked like a charm! Thanks!
