The World War Zed thread [OK, 'Zee']

Saw it today....Terry spent a lot of time 'hiding'....she enjoys Zombie movies.....

It was good, we both enjoyed it.

Movies re Zombies, Vampires, and such always make me wonder....is there a book of 'rules' by which everyone MUST follow...re how to kill/avoid/beat/etc such critters?

I hear tell they don't actually exist so are the 'creation' of someone's imagination....

....but I could be wrong....;)

..was just interested as to what the US'ers considered expensive... compared to what we get charged here... always amazes me, the differences... and they think they have it bad...  maybe they'll feel better about it now...   ;)

but we did get a tad off topic...  :X    O:)

I work - hard.  2 full-time jobs - keeps me awake absurd hours.

I don't have a big house.... my car turned 22 years old this year.... and big-screen movies typically NEED to be seen on a big screen [my 'big-screen' TV would classify as small these days]... so I go to movies a couple of times a year.

Read books, they're better and cheaper.

Not sure what BS you're trying to spin...but my car's VIN Number dates to 1991.  First registered mid '92.

Dear Jafo,

I'm sorry this has happened to you and i hope there no hard feelings. If i were to explain how you got caught in the web then that would spoil the whole thing. The key word is "alternate aka fringe"

Yours Sincerely

.........much like a "successful" zombie, is highly expendable. :banhammer:

While a night out at the movies may be beyond my budget at the moment, these threads do serve a useful purpose. Sooner or later, all movies end up on DVD, and eventually will be found in a Fiat-sized bargain bin pile at the local WalMart. How determined the "dig" will be depends on the comments made by those of you who have seen the movie. ;)

So thanks for that.

I've never read the books but enjoyed the movie. Apparently instead of the whole sneak into the bioweapons lab thing the ending was supposed to be a huge battle for Moscow that was only briefly alluded to in the actual film. Does anyone wish the movie ended with a bigger action scene or was the shall we say subtler ending more effective?

I'm not much of a Zombie guy. I'm more into Sci-Fi. The last time I went out to the movies it was a drive in. Me and my main squeeze was necking more than watching the movie though. lol Wow was that the good old days.

Kinda left me thinking......'sequel' ....;)

Next you'll have a zombie in outer space movie. Oh wait...they did that...it was a brand x movie that got relegated to the bottom of the Walmart bin. Saw it...thought it sucked.

Saw the movie today.  I think it was a so-so movie.  Like reading a book thats missing the first and last chapter.  You don't know what caused the Zombies to appear and you don't know which side won.  Only 1 name I knew, Brad Pitt.  Oh well, just my opinion and we know about those.  So I kind of agree with Jafo, probably a 'sequel'.  Big screen TV.  Hum.  In my grand daughters room I got her a 52inch LCD and in the living room a 65inch 3D Plasma.  The movies where I live are $6 for 2D and $7.50 for 3D.  They get ya on the concessions.

Saw the movie. The most important critic in the house loved it (The Wife).

And to the main topic of the thread apparently...

We spent $21 dollars for three people to see the movie and 29 dollars at 5 guys. Movie wins on overall entertainment cost.

Calling it World War Z is a bit of a stretch from the book, but I didn't really let that bother me much. I enjoyed this version as a movie probably more so than I would have enjoyed a more documentary styled movie. I think a District 9 approach "may" have worked but it may not have done as well in the box office. I also could envision the main character becoming the documentarian of World War Z afterwards.

I think this movie pulled off a different angle of the Zombie apocalypse by focusing more on the world impact versus a small group of survivors on their own.

The thing that might be bad with this movie is it's budget was way too high which probably won't be fully recouped in the box office. It may cut even with DVD sales... we'll see I guess. I don't want overzealous productions hurting future attempts at movies like this.

Good idea for the sequel. ;)

One of the best records for recouping a budget was with Mad Max. 1000% [if that is really a mathematical term].

Made for 300 thou .... made 300 mill and counting...;)

Actually...it's not.... if 300 thou is 100% then 300 mill is 100,000% or some-such tripe.

Either way....it made a shit-load...;)

Saw the movie tonight ($21 btw for me and the fiancé)...best part was North Korea's "strategy" for dealing with Zombies...

Not sure if that means you didn't like the movie or if you really liked North Korea's strategy... in the later case I might be worried.

Lol...I liked the movie a lot...

I just had to admire North Korea's "creativity"...
