Who's locking all the threads?!!

I just went into https://forums.wincustomize.com/myposts and saw that all but my last 6 posts have been locked!

1. Why?

2. Who decides what posts get locked?

3. Were we informed and I missed the post?

This must be a glitch of some sort...I'll tell Hankers, I.D. and Jafo.

It's a site issue. The posts show as locked when checking through "My Posts" but are not locked when selecting the post normally through the forums.

Just out of curiosity I checked mine. Starting on Oct. 7 2014 and going backwards in time all those posts are locked. How come? Could it be that they are all old and not relevant as most have been answered and/or solved? It only affects posts from last year and back. Curious.

Uvah...it's a site issue. The posts are only locked if you go through "My posts"...mine aren't, but, if you go through the Forums, the posts aren't locked.

Dunno....looks like all posts from 2014 and before are locked. Not just threads I started.....

Hope it gets fixed for you all. I can go back to 2008 and all mine are available.

I know...we posted at the same. I didn't see your post when I posted. I thought mine was the first.

Just curious. If you mouse over where the icon or logo would be on the left side it says locked post. However have you tried to mouseover anything to the right of where it says locked post? ? It all works.

https://forums.wincustomize.com/456905 <-------that post is locked (no reply box) as all of mine are from that time and earlier

All of mine from Oct 3, 2014 and back are locked too. Doesn't really matter to me though, if a post is over a year old and no one has posted on it in a year or more, it should just be deleted in my opinion. Might save a LOT of database space.

I stand corrected. I can view them all but can't post to any of them if I wanted to. I should have looked at it better. sorry about that. So that would truely make them locked as you stated.

I guess it would save on nekrothreads....still.....seems kinda.....harsh

I don't have an answer yet on this. I assume it's because we've been having lots of people bring back old threads and it makes it difficult to sort through problems when someone posts their issues with it.

Auto-closing of threads whose last response was over 12 months old is actually a plus.  All too frequently old issues with the sites/forums/software are 'revived' when they are no longer relevant....and thus redundant.  The poster is under the impression the issue is current without referencing/realizing their antiquity.

If a thread were considered historically significant Admins can reset/unlock them.

Spam-bots trawl for suitable 'phrases' on which to respond/post.  In fact one of Island Dog's long-since hidden was still being hit on a weekly basis.  Locking them cures that...;)

Paul, you have such a way with words.  5*

Makes sense considering the necro threads seen of late.
