Show Moves Left On Fleet Panel

Do it for the children...

It would be nice if moves were shown on the fleet panel in some way.  They're shown when you only have a single ship selected.  Space is limited but anything would be better than the complete brutality of having to hover over your fleet constantly to check moves remaining.

One possible spot would be where it shows you that the fleet belongs to YOU in the upper right hand corner of the fleet panel. I already know my fleets belong to me, so this info is redundant when it's my fleet.  You could show "owner" for fleets that aren't mine, and show me moves left to help preserve my ever dwindling sanity.  Hovering to see what an enemy ship has for moves isn't so bad.

If I haven't already asked for this before, I meant to.

Do it for children of all ages.

I agree with this idea wholeheartedly.

I can't remember seeing this as a request before, but it definitely a feature I have noticed missing many times while watching my 40 move fleet move where I have right clicked, wondering as I watched what warfare I would wreak when I winded up where I wanted.  "How many moves will I have left?"  I get a nice count down when moving a single ship. But not for a fleet.

I am not sure my very sanity depends on one single game feature, but it is indeed a fragile thing and doesn't need any extra strain.

Also, this is a good idea.

Please?

Re location for the info, maybe putting it in the circle with the the ship graphic & owner icon, move the ship count to the top of the circle and do X/Y moves at bottom?

I'd really like to see this too.

That lists exist. t's actually easier to retrieve than any other list; instead, of looking at planets on the main screen click on fleets. I don't know why it is called fleets since it shows all your ships. This should be called ships, and the as you highlight your ships it tells you how many moves they have.

I agree.  I asked for this feature ages ago, probably when the game was still officially in beta.  I have been waiting a long time to see this seemingly simple feature come to life.

Thanks for the workaround notion, Admiral.

Like all of the lists, that one needs work to make it more useful in general and especially in large/late games. It needs filters as well as sorts, filter/sort settings need to stick, and it would be swell to have it pop out or expand to give room for things like drop-downs to filter by ship role or even design family.

For me, the move info on that list is no substitute for being able to see it when you have a fleet selected on the main map.

Bump!

Seriously, if money is the problem, make good UI a DLC, I will definitely buy it.

Yes, this info is shown on a tooltp, appearing after a short delay, but as player needs this info  constantly, milliseconds add and considerably increase turn time. After brilliant work on AI turn times in 1.9, how about decreasing player turn times? :)

Other stat hidden in fleet UI, compared to single ship UI, is range. But it does not create a problem since range is perfectly visible on the map, and when player occasionally needs exact value he/she can spend a second to look at the tooltip.
Movement lines on the other had are displayed buggy on the map (since beta, Karl!), not remaining moves are shown, but rather max moves. Hence the problem becomes even more important.

Yes please!

Also it would be neat to show the little icons of ships in fleets with the same red overlay showing the hitpoint-status that you see in the battle-confirming-window.

Fine idea. That would cut way down on click overhead for fleet triage.

As I stated elswhere show all in the current turn (still if already moved) reachable hexes of a fleet or ship be coloring those hexes when ship or fleet is selected.

I agree with the OP.  It would be a big help.

On a related note, I also want the TURN button to move all automated ships and stop if any have leftover movement.  Then I would have a chance to decide what to do with that movement, including attack if I am close enough.  Once all that was accounted for, I would get the TURN button a second time and it would cycle turns.  This would probably not work out in MP, but it would vastly improve my SP experience by reducing micromanagement while avoiding waste.  GC2 had an option to work this way and I believe many enjoyed it.

The turn button worked that way back in the alpha test.  Apparently too many people thought it was confusing.  Like you, I liked it better that way.

I agree with erischild, we need to get our leftover movement. However, please check, there are already forum posts on this topic. Not that it doesn't maybe need a bump!

I was just muttering about this to myself whilst cleaning up after sloppy automated scouts. I've got a new extra-clicking habit of pulling back to the last full-move node on a long-distance order. But that fails on really long moves when the UI gives up on tagging turns on the line.

Although it isn't as good as what is being asked for here if you hover your mouse over the fleet icon on the map a tool tip appears that shows how many moves the fleet has left and its max moves per turn.

Some of us old threads resemble that remark!
