X Box vs PS2 vs GameCube vs PC

X Box vs PS2 vs GameCube vs PC

I figured to start another "vs" thread because the last one was fun!

So...

1) What is your favorite system, no matter how old?
2) What is your favorite game?
3) What would you like to own as a dream game system?

I only use my PC for internet, e-mail, programming, word processing, storing data, ect. I leave it to my DVD player to play movies and my gaming consoles to play games.

Windows XP sucks when it comes to DVD playback because sometimes the picture will flicker or the playback software will crash. Linux plays back DVDs with fewer problems but I still prefer to use my DVD player. When it comes to games on PC there are so many factors relating to hardware, but when it comes to gaming consoles you already have the exact hardware the game was designed for.

Oh crap I should have keep my mounth closed... Here we go with the linux thing again...

hey you are right for once! most my games require Win 98, a 500 mhz processor, and 32 mgs ram except Quake 3... you need to try that game then you will realize console games suck in comparision.

So what if I brought up Linux. I was just giving you my PC DVD playback experience and Linux was part of the story.

PC game developers have to think about all kinds of different hardware out there to try to create games that will work for most people. Hardware incompatibility, bad drivers, ect are not something people want to have to go through. Console game developers only have to think about one set of hardware or in the case of releasing a game for all three systems, they only have to think about three sets of hardware. The game you buy for your console was designed for exactly the hardware you have so there are no compatability issues to deal with.

I love Nintendo stuff, never really look for X-Box, and only wanted PlayStation2 for Final Fantasy but if there was more games of my style I would probably enjoy them as well. There is no system that really suck, each of them have their own qualities and they are mostly great because they are different in their similarities. Each users will find the right one for his taste and what is great is you have choice so now guys stop complaints of having choice

When you get a new PC game you have to install it then configure it before you start playing it. When you get a new console game, you just plug it in and play.

Okay Kona enough Gamecube sucks statements and enough hating. If Gamecube is not your preference fine, but don't criticize me for my preferences.

#156 by Tech Cat - 7/20/2003 8:53:45 PM I was exagerating a bit. The point is that getting a game to work on your computer if it will even work at all can be a hassle.

Yes and you exaggerate here. You do not sound like you speak from experience.

How bout the fact that consoles are outdated in a little bit? How bout the fact pcs can only handle the lastest and greatest games and are dumbed down for consoles? For the record, I for one prefer consoles for playin games.

Hating?

You blindly criticize the features of one console while trying to justify their uselessness because of your biased opinion of another console which lacks them.
