Vetrar etc achievements in GOG Galaxy not working

I killed Vetrar but the achievement didn't appear in GOG Galaxy client. Is this the same issue as with Steam? I found this old thread:

which suggests there are several possible issues, including the need to play in ironman without going back to old save files to replay battles. Does anyone know the current status of this issue?
