Administrators - Space stations

Hi, I need help plz!

I just bought the Retrebution expansion DLC. I non't 100 % if it's a bug or not, but I just can't get more than 6 administrators when playing a newgame/not campaign.

The first thing i noticed taht at the top i have just the options for CIVILIZATION, ARTIFACTS, IDEOLOGY and DIPLOMACY.

I researched a few of thecs that have in description to add andministrators, but nothing happend.

tnx

Do you also own Crusade?

Crusade was the best update to this game ever.  This one has much promise, I like it so far (except for the newest hyperlane annoyance graphic) ..  I completely recommend if you can afford to do so, buy Crusade.  Citizens made the game Very Different, in a good way.

Ha! Luxury! I've never had more than 3 administrators.

None of the techs that promise more administrators actually deliver them (the descriptions don't seem to match the code, either). I always choose the malevolent option on the Outpost event just to gain the 5 extra administrators, but although the extra five admins get added to the administrators tally, they aren't immediately usable. To add insult to injury, I then find out that the malevolent part of the event actually occurs when I hit "Turn" and some rapscallion murders my five new administrators! It's like some sort of bait & switch scam. Sure, administrators are a misguided fix for a non-problem and getting rid of them altogether would be ideal, but this just seems downright cruel.

Even if this were the only problem with Retribution (and it's very much not), it's a game killer. Experience tells me that Stardock will eventually get GalCiv back on track, but from here it looks like they've got several weeks work ahead of them, at the very least.

Could you please upload your debug.err file, it is located in \Documents\My Games\GC3 or \Documents\My Games\GC3Crusade, to a cloud service (DropBox, Google Drive, One Drive) and post a link here. There's something I want to check.

Same problem for me, administrators get added through events or tech, then next turn its back to 3 .... makes the game unplayable so this is most definitely a bug. Have tried reinstalling game, verifying files (steam) and played different races including a custom in different game setups.

I a bought the game but am so sorry i did it because the game is unplayable at this stage :-/

Hmmm, I'm not seeing any of these issues myself at all. Everything seems to be working like it's supposed to...

Ok, is it possible to get an answer on the mater. Just if its intended like this or it is a bug.

If I had to guess, I would have to say that it is because you do not own Crusade.

Your problem is that you cannot gain administrators, which are citizens - and all the game code for citizens is in Crusade.

TBH I think they need to put Crusade down as a prereq for this expac.

That is a problem when working with a game that has been out for a few years and has as many DLCs as GC3.

For the most part they have kept it pretty modular, which has earned them a bit of flak over the years, because they usually don't build upon a mechanic from previous DLCs in the later ones.

It gets worse from a modding standpoint.  DLCs, expansions, even the occasional patch, can effect compatibility, so most are either built to be omni-compatible, which limits how much you can do, or requires almost constant maintenance.

I get it and i agree with you, but they just could post in the info of the DLC that you need the Crusade DLC first :)

Yeah, if this assumption is correct I would either expect a refund or a free copy of Crusade.. defrauding your customers is illegal stardock (nudge, nudge, wink, wink)

lol, bad bad Stardock! :)  Well I guess I learned the lesson … last DLC i bought for this game :)

in the beginning of administrators with the 1.7 patch, the game started with 30 administrators. I'm talking at 1.7 this seemed reasonable. Then they came along, and added citizens. Ok I kind of understood the nerf here. Then they came along, and changed the base game. In the base game they need more administrators because of the lack of citizens. It's funny that after they changed to administrators they admitted that their phycosis were the problem, not an actual concept. I also like the game without administrators, or at least let us start with more administrators, and get more with citizens. Being an elite founder I haven't played the base game since 2.0 when it was perfectly balanced. It was a good game back then.

Glad I read this, I was considering a purchase of Retribution but I will not if Crusade is required to make it work.

Crusade is not required for Retribution.

Administrators recruited through "governance" techs if you don't have Crusade installed. There a few techs in the age of expansion that should get you going.  However, if you have Crusade, then you get Administrators through Citizens.

If you are unable to get Administrators (with or without Crusade installed), please let us know.

I love the game, I enjoy the administrator mechanic, I think Crusade was the best of all the expansions, with Retribution being second.  I cannot speak for being able to play Retribution without Crusade, but I imagine it is just a knee-jerk reaction, and that admins are certainly available.  It is too bad people talk bad about this game without giving it a bit of attention.  Are there some bugs or undesired features which remain persistent?  Sure.  But overall, great game.  Response to the community has been quite good (as I've come to expect from Stardock.)

I would buy crusades. It's a he best expansion for the game. It adds more than any other people expansion. I would also pickup lost treasures, and precursor world's. Crusades is worth buying. I like mercenaries.
