Freezing screen 1-2m into anything

Every time I load this up on my desktop, I can get just about a minute into a map, weather I do anything or not, the game freezes. Rarely a CTD, usually the screen freezes and the game audio can still be heard. It's not maxing out any of my hardware.

I've been having issues with freezing/crashing the last few days as well.   Previously I was able to complete the first 6 missions without any technical issues that I noticed.  When I tried yesterday to do the new Mission 7, I repeatedly had the game lock up on me.  It locks up on all missions as well, not just mission 7.  It doesn't seem to be a fixed amount of time till it happens, but eventually I get a black screen, then my desktop as if I had alt-tabbed.  The process for Siege of Centauri is still running but in a "not responding" state.  I've never had it recover on its own and have to kill it from task manager.  I let it sit for a good 15 minutes once, just to see if it would recover on its own but it did not.

My computer should be decent enough that i'm not hitting hardware issues, but I can post a dump if needed.  Its a 6 core, 32GB RAM, machine with a GeForce GTX 970 vid card.

Have you tried verifying your file since the update? Are your graphics drivers up to date? We will have a new update coming out today so I'd like to see if that fixes your issue too.

Is this everytime this happens, with a play through, or just sometimes?  If any of you have had a crash crash (not just a freeze), could you PM me the email you used for the crash reporter as I don't see any for the ones (emails) you have associated with your usernames here.

Thanks.

Did this ever get figured out? I'm having the same problem myself. It doesn't seem limited to any particular level or anything. I've updated drivers, verified files, dropped graphics settings to low, etc.

Got the same issue.

Launch the game, it starts loading and then it gets stuck at the first loading screen.

Installed it just a few hours ago, so whatever fix you are talking about, it clearly isn't working for this kind of issue.

Finished verifying game files, tried again... Game is still stuck, but this time it's stuck so badly that it even the Task Manager had a hard time closing it down, staying open for a solid minute before finally giving out and closing. Haven't had a game that would freeze THAT badly in 10 years (last one was Crysis back in the days on a laptop)

I wanted to know if you have done everything here:

https://forums.stardock.net/494196/siege-of-centauri-support-faq#Bugs

Would really like to get links to the files asked for there if nothing in it helps.

This one as well sould be tried as the symptoms (the game not starting at all) make me think the game is not able to write files:

Do let us now and thanks for your patience and patronage.
