July 2021 Desktop Screenshots

Welcome to July!

Heat wave here...so, wanted a "cool" theme, at least temperature wise. Also, loved V's Trident theme.

Post yours!

Well, that's a really simple answer. I get inspired by a color, a look, a pattern, anything... and then I toy with some ideas until I come up with something I like. I begin with the start menu, and then I base the rest of the skin around the look of the start menu.  I am a Disabled Veteran and I am 70 years old, so I do not go many places unless I need to, so I spend 10-14 hours a day, sometimes more, working on these designs. Some are Master Skins, some are free. When I get paid by Stardock 4 times a year for my Master Skin sales (which have been horrible for the past 3 payments), I then give that money to help the poor and needy (which can be verified).

I have been designing skins since the late 1990's when I did .MSstyle's for Windows XP using a company called TGTSoft's software (StyleXP and SkinBuilder), but when WIndows 7 came out, they shut down and I began using Stardock's great products and have been ever since. Hope this answers your question. :-)

I've known Tom For many years and I can definitely verify these statements. Tom is a great guy who is constantly helping others and never he asks for anything in return.

Back in the day when I was one-click porting msstyles to WB and before Tom started making WB skins, he always allowed me to port his and even helped with images that needed fine-tuning.

I can verify this too. He doesn't get out much. Who can blame him? He has a very nice house with a view of the river.  You may run into him at the local computer shop if you're lucky.

If I remember correctly, that would be SkinStudio 4.3 to 4.6, but good luck on finding either of those versions, they were for Windows XP. :-)

thanks Jan, will try to update all my fav old wb since no one's gonna do it for me.

even the authors seems to have forgotten about their beautiful creations, while i'm still using them

Sorry, but vStyler no longer does WB skins, hasn't for years. Those that were updated were done by me for him (with his permission of course). There are still a bunch of them to do, it just takes time.

ahh i see, so many wb with so many substyles will definitely take a lot of time to update.
i've been waiting for these 2 get updated, but after 14 years and all hope is lost, i know what to do.
these 2 aren't easy because of the texture on the start panel & the unusual shapes, need to do some calculations to ensure that not a single pixel deviates. but it's fun, quite happy with the result

vStyler made some cool skins back in the day.

he did, but don't forget about Lightstar, i just don't dare to do anything with his skins coz he's still around
