I don't think so many people are pissed off, it's more of being annoyed, that you have said 'My Skins' and 'My Icons'.

It takes less than 30 seconds to convert an .ico to a .png...Can't really call that skinning.

No need to quit just add the disclaimer...If WC say's it's ok to post, then I guess it's ok

what kind of disclaimer: how should I word it?

something like:
I didn't make these icons, but I converted them for you from ICO-format to PNG-format. Just to make you happy.
When I refer to "my icons" or "my work" I mean "the icons that I have converted for you". Enjoy.

Basically like you had said in one of the earlier post's:

'I take no credit in making these icons, I simply converted them from .ico format to .png format for your enjoyment with Object Dock'

or whatever

Hey, I liked it too!

That's sounds just fine Kona

I'm still curious if I could do a full 'Theme' based on a game without any permissions...That would be fun

I don't think the issue was with the uploads themselves, Kona, since as you say no one else uses a disclaimer. We just wanted you to clarify when someone gives you credit openly. You weren't confronted about it there, so you didn't really need to delete them or address it there. The disclaimer is excellent, though, and shows good will. I'm all for it for anyone who shares graphics.

I think you are shortchanging yourself, though, if you think you aren't good enough to do your own work. While you are doing this kind of thing you oughtta practice making icons of your own. It will give you a lot more satisfaction uploading stuff that you can take 100% of the credit for.

Kona: virtual pool 3?

OK the library stays up and i will change all of the descriptions.

Funny it lets me update my descriptions without being remoderated.

I REALLY do not wish to take credit for others icons, just the fact I converted them.

Kona.....long ago there was a place called skinz.org...[it's still around...about version 4, now]....and on its message board there was a quite common phrase used [by lazy typists like me]....

"Listen to [name]"

Most common ones were....

Listen to Fathom.

and

Listen to Baker.

[wonder what fathom's up to these days?]

Anyway....this time it's all about #85....

and

Listen to Baker....

Hrm, I miss Fathom, too. He was involved in Deskmod, wasn't he?

I noticed that some work had been done at skinz.org recently. Might wanna keep an eye on it.

Yep...I still drop in there...as with the other sites...

Kona.......i feel a little bit guilty as i offered you encouragement earlier in the thread and perhaps it was the wrong thing to do as things appeared to have got rather ugly since. I just thought that it was good that you were turning your hand to something positive and that hopefully your interest would then get "deeper" and you would then start thinking about doing some of your own designs. I hope you do maintain your interest and i can assure you that i am not the only one around here that is willing you on to succeed. There has been some good advice offered to you by some pro's like Baker Street and Jafo and i am sure they are echoing my sentiments. Don't let this "storm in a tea cup" put you off. Take it on the chin as a bit of a learning curve and come back out fighting
