Two Screens With Fit Setting Not Working

I am using the paid version DeskScape. I have two displays stacked on top of each other, The main screen is a 55-inch Samsung TV HDR and a 43-inch Philips Monitor HDR. Both are set to 3840x2160, scale 300% and 60Hz. I am using Windows 11 with multiply monitors set to fit.

The problem is the images don't match up. The image in the middle matches up but as the images radiate out to the edges the greater the images don't match up. From memory there use to be a setting called span in DeskScape and that use to make the images fit together properly.

I have tried multiple combinations of fit and span between Windows settings and DeskScape settings with no luck. I would post a photo, but I don't know how.

Any assistance would be great as I had this working years ago but can't get it to work now.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, from your screenshot, I don't think it can work. Since you have two screen with different physical sizes. But, I might be wrong, maybe someone with similar setup as yours can come in and give some pointers.

And, I have forward your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. We appreciate your patience.

Thanks.

Hi basj, monitor size had nothing to do with it

Only screen resolution is important.

I confirm the bug mentionned by TomTheBadAssCat For multiple screen, a background image must be set in Windows [Mosaik] mode. This mode is missing from DeskScapes.

I provide test image for 1980x1080 monitor resolution :

2 screen3840x1080

3 screen5760x1080

Here how it look using Windows Mosaik mode :  Picture Using Mosaik

Here how it look using DeskScape modePicture using DeskScapes

The fix for this would be to cut your large (multiple monitor) picture in 1920x1080 image and apply each image on each separate screen

However, there is others bug involved with DeskScape when we want to use this solution

Bug #1: Screen label in DeskScapes are wrong.  DeskScapes name the primary monitor Screen #1 faultly.

According to Microsoft, Screen number should be labeled according to Setting order as seen here:

Screen Order Example

as you can see I have 4 monitors labeled 1 through 4 (well, 4 is an hdmi output on a video card and I use it for recording, there is no physical monitor attached to it)

But when I use DeskScape, monitor 2 is named 2, but monitor 3 is named 1.

If I deactivate monitor 1, monitor 2 become 1 but in deskscape, it is still 2 because for deskscape

3 will always be 1

Left is always 2

Right is always 3

Wich is VERY confusing when you have Multiple Screen profile like I does (Screen 1 is not always there and I also have a Screen 5 that is also not always there, it depend of my recording need for streaming)

Bug #2

Image starting with a number doesn't always appear in deskscapes

as an example, look at this: Missing numbered images

There is 3 missing image in deskscapes compared to the directory box you can see

This one kind of puzzle me because I'm a programmer myself and I have no idea how they can achieve that kind of bug.

to my knowledge, there is no way to apply a directory filter that filter out "some" number.

They probably list images in a [list object] and forget (for some reason) to retrieve all files in the list.

But it seem to be a problem mainly with PNG file.

Bug #3

Ok, this one, Stardock will call it a feature, but let me tell you, this feature make applying Effect EXTREMELY difficult on multiple screen.

If you apply your picture separately on each monitor, you need to apply effect ALSO separately because when you go to apply effect,

only the LAST background image applied appear.

Meaning you have to process this way and only this way

1. Apply Monitor 2 (left one) Background image

2. Apply Monitor 2 Effect

3. Apply Monitor 1 (main)  Background image

4. Apply Monitor 1 Effect

5. Apply Monitor 3 (right one) Background image

6. Apply Monitor 3 Effect

and if someday you want to change some effect, you still have to re-apply the background image prior to change the effect.

Bug #4

Clear effect button cannot be used when applying multiple background image to different monitor

Binary Fortress' Display Fusion app does this for static wallpapers, allowing separate scaling and positioning of each monitor to make it look like one coherent image. It's a rather fiddly thing to set up but it works. That's why I don't use DreamScapes on my multi-monitor systems. Despite using the rest of the Stardock Object Desktop suite since Windowblinds starting 1998.
