how to rotate map and keep map rotation??

and the last post in that thread said the middle mouse was NOT working for them. then the post was locked. hence the need to create another identical post

in 2024 with windows 10 the middle mouse does NOT work as intended for me. the map rotates but when I release the middle mouse button it snaps back to original map rotation. the control key (either left control or right control) plus left or right arrows does NOT rotate map at all for me

any other hot keys to permanently rotate map or a way to force the rotation to stay where you want it to using the middle map button to change the map rotation??

I found an old post https://forums.elementalgame.com/435680/get;3276997 that contains a workaround

pressing 2 or 3 or 4 will correct map rotation to to look like a chess board with vertical and horizontal tiles

pressing 1 will return the map rotation back to default 45 degree rotation

is there a way to remap ANY of the hot keys??
