Wallpaper not loading at startup

I've had this issue for a while and have followed all suggestions before in trying to resolve why Deskscapes does not load chosen wallpaper on desktop after a reboot, instead I am greeted with a white background. I've tried purging, reinstalling, everything under the sun but nothing I've come across resolves this. If anyone has a fix for this I'd appreciate knowing what that might be. Thanks!

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more details on your issue.

  1. Windows 10 or 11? Also need its version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe to get these.
  2. Deskscape version number.
  3. Animated or Static wallpapers?
  4. Monitor/s configuration, Resolutions, Orientation, Scale factors (100%, 125% 300% etc), Connection type, docking stations.
  5. Monitor Display managers running?
  6. Special Graphics drivers setting? Such as AMD Eyefinity etc.
  7. Any other details that might help us narrow down the issue.

Thank you,

Sorry, didn't think to include my set up. Windows 11 v24H2 OS Build 26100.4652. Deskscapes 11 (not currently installed due to issues.) I downloaded the latest .exe from my Stardock account. Now it won't activate after trying to reinstall. Both animated and static wallpapers produce the same result (white background) no display managers that I'm aware of running. It's a Dell XPS laptop with intel iris graphics as well as NVIDIA graphics. All drivers are up to date. Hope this helps.

Now it won't activate after trying to reinstall.

What error came up when you tried to reactivate it?

It's a Dell XPS laptop with intel iris graphics as well as NVIDIA graphics.

Is it possible to set which graphics chips use for Deskscape? I believe you can set something in nvidia control to use it on specific application.

Never thought of that thanks. Just need to figure out how to do just that. I'll research it.

Activation error was 212. I found a fix in that you're asked to delete the Deskscapes folder, then try to activate, but it still wants to not work. Throws same error code, 212. I really enjoy having Deskscapes, but it has not been the same since the 24H2 update I've noticed.

Just to be sure, you're do have license for Deskscape v11 stand alone, yes? Or was it Deskscape from your subscription on Object Desktop package? If from Object Desktop pack, do you still have active subscription?

I use the stand alone app, not Object Desktop.

Perhaps you can try this guide to manage your activation and removed old activation and try to activate again: https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1260191763/How+to+review+and+manage+your+current+activations.

Is there a solution to the white screen issue when loading Windows from a reboot/shutdown yet? I know the issue is Deskscapes because when not using Deskscapes, Windows default wallpaper and themes load just as they should. Is there going to be an update to Deskscapes anytime soon? Thanks.

Referring to this thread and reply from Dev: https://forums.stardock.com/537103/get;3973508, please check if you have high contrast themes on Windows and also check dwm is running.

High contrast themes are not enabled on my laptop, nor is Desktop Windows Manager having any issues.
