Hi, i would like to suggest having a second option of the search icon, as a magnifying glass.

I find the search bar too big, a small simple icon would be great.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, if you mean the taskbar area, have you tried this setting under Windows Personalization->Taskbar->Search ?
