I suspect some ratings slamming going on.

I suspect some ratings slamming going on.

Looks to me like someone ran thru all the latest windowblinds and slammed the ratings(not just mine, even the good ones )

If its legit, guess some like it and some don't. I would give it 3 or 4 stars (7).

It wasnt my intention to start another ratings discussion, just saw what I thought was suspicious behavior.

While I agree giving a 10 to an undeserving skin is wrong,it dosnt sway a 7,8,or 9 skin the same way a 1 will.(the math is obvious)

I think for the time being it is best to remember that everything is in a transitional state.  As some people are rating with stars and some with numbers its probably less nerve wracking to wait and see how it all evens out.  Just remember a star rating might make a number rating look low.  Since they are entirely different systems a rating cast on one system doesn't have the same meaning on the other scale.  I hope that makes sense.

And always remember that if you have concerns that something is going wrong you can contact one of us.

Yersterday a Journeyman uploaded a screenshot which gets an 'auto 6' as it bypasses moderation......that number is 'lost' when someone puts a 'real' rating on it.

Someone did.....a '1'.

It was patently obvious that the rating bore no reflection of the 'standard' of the skin detail, etc in the screenshot.

Since 'loading related to member ranking' has been applied when I gave it a '7', a number reflecting an above-average standard of screenshot, instead of 1 + 7 / 2 = 4 [again non-representational], it became '7', just as it should.

What this 'weighting' means is that with one new rating it 'may' affect the overall more noticably.....the new rating can be legitimate, fair and defensible, but might at times have a similar effect to the drive-by idiot who posts a '1' because he hates days that end in 'y', whatever.

Either way, if there's a rapid/odd change in overall ratings they'll be noticed and checked for unscrupulous intent.

The new 'star' system will [hopefully] make all this pre-occupation with numbers moot, as is its intent....

i know i'm knew to this, having only made one skin and that being a port of an msstyle, but why be concerned about ratings? isn't the fact that you, the author, is happy with the skin? if anyone else likes it, that's both a blessing and a bonus. just my two cents. i hope i haven't offended anyone.

Playing off what Jafo said... People that are journeyman and above have a bigger responsibility now since their ratings are more valuable now. I have some faith in the new system even though it has effected me in a negative way since the change. I trust the people that are chosen for promotions and believe the they have gained the confidence of everyone concerned. Therfore I trust and value their opinion greater than the typical subscriber.

In answer to an earlier question as to why the 10s weren't removed and the 1s were. The 1s were from a skinner who felt his own work was under-rated and decided to 'even the score' - hence their removal. The 10s are from someone who habitually puts a 10 on everything. Both people will be dealt with - in private.

The public discussion of this matter should now be considered closed. If anyone has any further rating concerns please use e-mail - we do answer!
