Does the nice Events ever happen to Humanity ?

Just once would I like to get an event to change one of my Planets to Class 45 or have every Planet with in a sector increase by 8.

It happen to me a couple of times. Planet class elevated, Ranger ship allocated, Corvette Ship allocated, mysterious object that increases your stats...

I've gotten all of those at one point or another.

The best one ever was when I was playing a tiny/rare map and had Earth and no other planets. (Every other race had one planet except one race which got two.) A couple years into the game Earth was transformed into a class 35 world, obviously an enormous advantage when everyone's empire consists of one world. It was too good an event, actually, I ended up quitting a couple game years later because that event made the game too easy.

Of course they do. In my current game, I've had the "increased interest in alien cultures increases cultural influence" and "discovery of Ranger-class ship" events, and in another game (unfinished but saved) I had an "economic boom" event occur.

Yeah, one game I kept getting Rangers. Four, maybe five over the course of a fairly short game...and no, it wasn't short because of the Rangers, though it did make for some good battleship diplomacy.

Has any ever received the "artifact of increasing power" event that grants a bonus of 1% to a random stat each turn? I'd like to see the savefile as proof. I've received all the other events.

In fact, I've seen the "trade assasination -> war" even happen between two AI players!

May I inquire, because I DO hear about them often- what are rangers?

It's a capital ship...

You need cloaking, and a buncha other techs...I haven't noticed it actually being invisible (though that could be the 1.4 description I'm thinking of)

It looks kinda neat...

Haven't made your way up the tech tree, eh? :)

Everybody always guns down #1. That goes for Galciv events, too. The most powerful gets the least amount of good luck. The more desperate your position compared to the others, the better your luck.

The minor irritation I have is the seeming regularity in which the AI would vote for distributing the human's wealth but voting against the distribution of an AI's wealth when they would obviously benefit.

It could be that they are voting based on relations but it just seems too regular for that.

Ray--in my experience the AI generally votes to distribute another AI's wealth, and I've had them vote not to distribute mine. *shrug* I think it is based on relations--I try to keep everyone at war with everyone else, so they probably don't have good relations with each other, and I try pretty hard to keep good relations with everyone.

It seems the minors serve as a cash cow for all the other majors. Lock in a deal for 150 for 50 months and your set! Its like an transuniversal bank! :d

The events that raise PQ I rarely get.

I think Gerakken hit it nose. The race worst off gets the best events. They have increased luck to balance up the game.

I love the vote on Taxing Humanity. One game 3 votes in a row everybody wanted to Tax me. I found if everybodies alignment is good the proposal gets voted down.

My only major irritation is that minor races pop up with all your techs. WHY, Stardock, why?

Any new minor races that come in during the game get all the techs. that the race that has researched the most techs (I think). Its to give them some hope, though very little, to survive in the galaxy instead of starting from scratch after everyone has researched well into the tech. tree. Any of the ones that you see in the beginning of the game, start from scratch just liek yourself.

i got one of those all planets near this sector gets +x pq at the border with the arceans. i didn't notice until the torians started dropping colonies into the middle of my empire on ex-desolate rocks.

EBZeroMatrix, #15:

New minor races get the same tech as the human player, even if the human player is not the tech leader. This is probably a bug.

I've yet to get the "super planet" upgrade but I'm currently playing a game as universalists and then I added +25 to my luck. So far I've received 5 Rangers in the span of maybe ten game years. Blew the crap out of the very surprised Drengins.

I was considering it for a gigantic maso....I'm still trying to crack that one after about 4 or 5 abortive attempts. I guarentee I won't be the most powerful race until the very end.... I'm thinking of trying for a +2 speed with rare habitable planets, in order to maximize the size of my empire in comparison to the AI's.... I usually play with habitable planets on the highest setting but I find that (for maso gigantic) if I grab as much turf as possible my early population is too spread out and I can't build anything in a decent amount of time because my spending is spread out on 30 different worlds.... Then the AI's find me and immediately want war because I can't afford to build or maintain a military....

Sigh, I'll figure it out one of these days.

You are a brave soul Xavier, the number of Maso players left in this Metaverse can be counted on my hands.

I have a Maso Gigantic on abundant sitting in the harddisk at year 4. I believe I would be able to finish it... hopefully.

And if you do wish to join some likeminded players in an empire, do consider the Fellowship.

Well...I'm a long time strategy gamer. After starting 4 or 5 games to get a feel for the game mechanics - and after figuring out that you don't have to build starbases on resources ;p (RTFM!) - I jumped into my crippling gigantic (I have a prediliction for excess) and demolished it. Gigantic maso is the next hurdle, although I'm gonna do some more training before I take another run at it....

and as you saw in the themed empires thread my affiliatory intentions (why use a small word when you can use a diminutive one? :D ) will be revealed in the next few days

:D :D

What do you mean by...figuring out that you don't have to build starbases on resources?

I didn't realize you could build starbases anywhere your heart desires until after I read the manual.
