Completely disable windows taskbar.

Is there a way to completely disable the windows task bar and rid yourself of the empty space left behind. Im using a theme that does not allow me to shrink the taskbar smaller than normal so i cant just shrink it then put it on auto hide. So does anyone know of any registry tweaks or small programs that can disable the taskbar?

Tweak Shell, Object Bar, Object Dock+, and Desktop X all let you disable or hide the taskbar.  They are all included in Object Desktop.

Oh, the newest Object Desktop program called Right Click does too.  I keep forgetting about that one.

I have object bar. The only problem with the way they disable the taskbar is that they still leave an unusable portion of the screen where the taskbar was before disabling. No windows can maximize over this area. I would like to be able to make use of this bit of space since not having the taskbar is meant to leave the space available for use.

On the windows start panal, alternate click and pull up the properties.  Then look in the taskbar tab.  UNCHECK the radio box beside the command keep the taskbar on top of other windows... that might help.  Also try size your explorer window to take up that space.  Maybe one of these will help.  WIndows fx has the ability to set sizes you want windows to maximize to if I remember right.

You can always kill the explorer process. That'll take care of the whole shebang. If you need it back, you can use C A D to start it again.
