OUCH!

In my current game, I'm at war with the Torians and the Altarians. I was pretty much thrashing them about, now a precursor event gave the Torians 80+ precursor corvettes!! Granted, they are only corvettes, but 80+.... man that's a slight set back, not to mention how long it is in between turns now watching them move.

LMAO you can always turn off show enemy moves in the options list. I went to war with someone just to cream all those ships it was taking so long.

Citizen Kiwi Greg,

As to maintenance, "Yep". It's sometimes a curse. ;)

Once I got to Overlord Tech I bankrupted the Arceans by giving them all of my old Battlehammers, Battleships, and most of my dreadnoughts. I had a TON of BHs and BBs because that was the tech level we were at when I got into a huge 40-50 turn long war with the Yor. The game literally hung for about 30 seconds after I'd loaded up the list and hit send while it processed the shear number of ships I gave them.

His economy immediately went down the crapper (mine zoomed up) and he went from thousands in cash to debt in just a couple of turns...Strangely he never simply disbanded these ships even though they prevented him from building Overlords of his own.

When I had enough CTs and Overlords to invade him I was facing an enemy whose entire budget was wasted on ships I could blow up without hesitation.

Somewhere along the line the AI could use a better scrapping routine.

Or they should simply not accept the trade in the first place. I'm not sure which is the easier fix though :)

Citizen Elrikk: Its NEVER a curse. In the alternative to Valamir's ruse, just sell them to a minor civ for mega cash, and the minor civ will probably use them against a major civ.

Valamir I did the same thing! I found 42 Precursor Corvettes while I was in the process of finishing my Overlord research.

I loaded em and sent them to the Altarians...the biggest thorn in my side. They had about 2 Dreadnoughts to their name and a multitude of other scattered ships.

They stopped building ships completely for another 25 turns or so while I finished my Overlord. It was a chance I was willing to take before I declared war.

My Excalibur dominated that game anyway...but that's another story...

Once upon a time I was flying two little frigates up on some "training procedures" near the Arcaen space when I get this message about them finding some precurser corvettes. Then, next turn, the Drengin demanded something like all my planets, tech, ships, bases, and money as tribute. I refused, Drengin declared war, Arcaens sent me a message that since I was picking on the Drengins, they're going to do the monkey-stomp on my head.

Then a stack of 99. Yes, Ninety-nine little yellow corvettes began flying at my pair of frigates.

1 frigate held off 82 of those corvettes. It was the only time I've seen a max-level frigate. The 83rd corvette killed my mighty frigate. I awarded them the LCN Medal of Divine service post mortem.

WORST THING ABOUT THAT EVENT IS I had this happen to me, I was at war with someone and they got 100 corvettes! I was one space away fromt heir system with 15 batlecruisers and they jumped out the system and started attacking me one by one! Needless to say I had time to go to the store and back before they were done! I was quite p.o.ed
