Welcome to the Fellowship of the Ring Empire Thread - The Sequel. :)

Congratulations to Fleet Admiral Ray !!! :CONGRAT:

Ray has been a Gal Civ mentor for many so thanks Ray. We hope you stick around the forum and play around with each new release and share your thoughts. If you feel like helping the FotR reach 3 million by playing now and then, that would be super. :)

Treachery is fun!
The scores now stand at:
Jedi 2376386
Fellowship 2375875
If any of you guys can submit a decent game right now, you'll be back at number one.

Submitted a 60k maso gigantic. We are back at number one for the moment. The FotR needs to crank it up now that Cotal Amadila and Matthew Downie have changed empires. Hmmm . . . hope this makes Ray want to play. LOL.

Congrats Ray on Fleet Admiral! :CONGRAT:

Thanks everyone. :)

Now that my final quest is complete, Ray would be wandering off to explore new planes of existence.

I've accomplished all that I wanted to do here on the Metaverse and it's time for me to move on. I would still visit the forums periodically, esp when new updates come out.

I really appreciate the friendships and fun that I've have here. You people are really fantastic.

For those of you in the Fellowship, do keep up the spirit of the Fellowship - to contribute both to the game and to the community. I've done my bit over these months and now the baton is now passed on to all of you.

I've promoted the most active members to empire admins so that you people could manage the empire while I'm away.

Cheers to all and remember to have fun!

Congrats, Ray, and enjoy the retirement.

On a separate note, does anyone know how to kill this account so I can start afresh with a new nickname and no metaverse submissions?

Michael,

I don't know if you can delete your current account, so just go register under a different player name at this http://www.galciv.com/playerreg.asp and start submitting games to the new player name. You'll start from scratch.

Good morning all! Wow, things sure have changed since I dropped in last! I submitted my first success at Gigantic/Maso, and though it was "only" 49,000 pts, I'm pretty satisfied. The map is just too big for me, though. Can't say I'll be doing that again anytime soon.

Ray, congrats on Fleet Admiral and happy retirement! Don't be a stranger to the Halls, you're always welcome to drop in and say hi...maybe even submit a game if you feel like it! ;)

Alex, that Small/Maso that scored only 9k points was kind of a fluke. I finished it so fast, I didn't have anytime to research anything or build very many wonders/TG. I traded the AIs for some of their transports, then did some Alpha Strikes. They didn't stand a chance. You can definitely score less by winning too quickly.

Good luck with our guys over at the Jedi Republic! If it's just a temporary move, we'll see you when you get back. If it's permanent, may the Force be with you, and have fun! We'll continue holding the fort down here!

I downloaded 1.11 last night, but was really tired so I just went to sleep. I'm looking forward to trying some thing with it!

Well, I've got a customer coming into the office and he wants to spend all day working on some projects, so I might not be very talkative today! :notsure:

Oh, and thanks for promoting me to Senator, Ray! Hopefully we won't screw the Fellowship up too much! :D

Theoden. Congrats on the gigantic maso. I noticed it was 1.10. Out of curiosity, since you downloaded 1.11, try finishing the game again (your endgamesave) and see what you would get with 1.11. Submit if you like but let us know what you get either way. I am still trying to figure out the scoring changes for 1.11. Thanks. And don't you still have an anomalous score to submit to 1.11? I am curious to see if it will be "un-anomalous" on 1.11.

Gigantic is a *very* big map and it takes me days (and days) to finish a game. This weekend was unusal because all I did was play Gal Civ and watch disappointing football games. Oregon State played poorly on Saturday, then my Seattle Seahawks played poorly on Sunday. ;p

But with Ray retired, Matthew Downie and Alex Robertson leaving the fellowship (did I miss anyone? LOL), Cotal becoming Amidala, Mayito leaving MWC and several joining the Jedi, things are happening very fast. I sort of feel obligated to get some good scores when I do get a chance to play and those big scores on gigantic maso can be habit-forming. ;)

The empire-hopping has me confused. I hope we have enough overlords left to compete. 3 million points may take a while but that's OK as long as everyone is having fun. As per Theoden, thanks for promoting me to Senator, Emperor Ray. I will try not to touch the wrong buttons. :D

Whoa, lot of drama this weekend. Not sure if we'll be able to keep up in the long run though since we don't have many active players left. Gives us something to strive for though!

Rick,

Yes, I was planning on seeing what difference there was between 1.10 and 1.11 on that Gig/Maso. I didn't realize 1.11 was out until I submitted the game so I went ahead and d/l it. But I was just so tired, I decided to go to sleep and check things out another time. Hopefully, I'll get a chance tonite to see the differences.

I do have that 1.10 Huge/Crippling that I want to submit. If it shows up as Anomalous again, I think I'll scream!

vincible: lots of drama. Can't believe the feelings everybody has for the Metaverse. I just hope things calm down a little and we all get back to having some fun.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

I actually welcome the new challenge of trying to compete for first again. We had gotten really lax with our comfortable lead. We'll just have to keep plugging away and try to keep ahead of the Jedi!

Gosh, some people got pretty upset. :( Does anyone feel like there are any changes we could/should make to this empire?

And I realized that I'm a senator! Mwahahahaha!

Wind rose about vincible, and dark clouds gathered. Laughing, he thrust his arms in the air exultantly. As he clenched his fists, a thundercrack shattered the air around him, and rain poured down in sheets. He let out a triumphant shout.

"Tremble and despair, for I am power!"

His laughter and the thunder combined into one mighty sound, peals echoing off the nearby mountains. Lightning burst around him, singing the nearby grass but leaving him untouched. The ground trembled slightly, as if some mighty beast stirred below.

"Vincible!" The shout is from Theoden. "By Elendil's armpit, what do you think you're doing?"

The rain stopped abruptly, and the clouds scudded away to the horizon as if embarrased.

"Um... I was just saying that I would, uh, use the power of the Senatorship responsibly," vincible said tentatively. "I, um, decided to start by, um, watering the crops."

Theoden's brow cleared. "Oh, that's a good idea! The peasants don't have a very good irrigation system here."

"Uh, yeah. Bad irrigation, we ought to do something about that. Shall we return to the Halls?"

Engrossed in a discussion of Fellowship agricultural policy, they returned home.

I just realized I didn't say this earlier. Ray, you will be missed here in the Halls. We'll probably have plenty of interaction in the PBEM game though, so I won't say goodbye!

Have you ever wondered what those discussions sound like?

"Gee, our irrigation problem is bad."
"Yup...if it would rain, we wouldn't have any problems."
"What about that flood in '85? Too much rain..."
"Okay, so no rain and too much rain is bad. How bout just enough rain?"

:SURPRISED: :SURPRISED: :SURPRISED:

AUGHHH!!!! It sounds like a scene from Mid-Western Confederation Deliverance!!!

Hey, I don't know of any changes we can make around here. This has always been a pretty open empire. Besides our occasional run-in with Pontius, I think we're pretty good with all empires. Hell, I even like Pontius! He keeps things interesting! :D

As far as I'm concerned, the Fellowship should stay the way it is. Feel free to join the Fellowship and rest a spell in the Halls. If the call for adventure stirs you, nothing stops anyone here from moving on. I'm not saying I want everybody to leave, just that I'm not going to be devastated if people hear the call of the wild and move to another empire.

The Fellowship exists to help those in need (if we can), write stories when we feel like it, and be a thriving community for people to role play a bit. If the pirates want to have a little fun, they start a Geektrix story. I'm flattered by that, myself. If we can spur stories from other empires, all the better!

Anyway, just my two cents worth.
Yeah, it's a nice, open and friendly community. I certainly wouldn't want to change that. I'm glad everyone here is pretty laid-back about the Metaverse and doesn't get too upset about the little ups and downs. I guess we should just keep in mind that not everyone necessarily feels the same way about it.

Sorry about inflicting a discussion of agriculutral policy on your character! If you wish to take vengance upon me I would understand ;)

Hmm... these defections need a story, too. Maybe later tonight, if my muse pays a visit (as she always does when I have work to do).

This happens to me more than I'd like to admit! LOL Why, oh, why does creativity seem more abundant when one is too busy to express it? :D

I found my endgamesave for my anomalous in my recycle bin. I had saved it under "endgamesaveanomalous". How creative LOL The file date was 9/24 and it loaded fine. I played the final turn, a terror star finale, then finally got the military victory a turn or two later. It was 23k or so points but zero mpts!!! So, it is still anomalous. Just don't want you to scream Theoden. :D I hope you have better luck than I did. I have had only had 1 anomalous out of my 74 submissions so that doesn't seem a big deal but I doubt if I will ever play crippling again unless Stardock makes maso too hard.

I agree with the other Senators. Have a good time in the Fellowship of the Ring Empire. Feel free to chat, tell stories, ask questions, or say hi.

Also congrats to FotR who has 3 of the top 5 slots in the overall metaverse standings - at least for the moment. Hmmm . . . do I still have time today to start that next gigantic maso? ;)

And also, feel free to leave! We're a Fellowship, not a dictatorship.

On a separate note, does anyone know how to kill this account so I can start afresh with a new nickname and no metaverse submissions?

I think you can do it at:

http://www.wincustomize.com/

I've never done it myself though. "Edit account" then "change nickname." You still submit under your old name though.
vincible, changing your nick on wincustomize only changes what's displayed--you still keep the same 'player name' and as such all your games, so that wouldn't really get him what he wants...

Since I've posted it elsewhere, I might as well put it here with my RingFellows: you can email me at

[email protected]

That's not my "real" address so if you send anything to me you might want to bump this thread to make sure I check it.
