Windowed mode question

I know the windowed mode is sort of a touchy subject, but I just have a question about making it work.

I run my desktop at 1280x1024, 16-bit color. I bring up a command prompt, go to the directory and run the galciv.exe, but it still runs full-screen. (this is my work computer so I need to be able to alt-tab real sneaky-like hehe).

Am I doing something incorrectly? Is there a work-around for this?

The binary is galcivw.exe, not galciv.exe. The rumor is that in a future version, there will be only one exe, but it will be a command-line option.

Well, I thought it did... (:(

As soon as the galaxy map loads up and the first text window appears, it CTDs when I hit OK.

Hmm. I guess my question has just gotten a little more complex! Anyone know how to make this playable?

I had a crash (CTD) at the same point in the 1.03 windowed mode. I haven't tried the 1.04 version yet.
