new player , about survey ships

Hi everyone new player here, I have trouble getting survey ships to auto survey, they will for a moment then stop, and clicking auto survey doesnt do anything, any help would be great thxs!!

They only auto-survey when they can see something of interest to go to. You can leave it on auto-survey and when its run out of things to do, send it on a long journey into the dark regions of the map and it'll normally start finding things for itself again.

The survey ship won't auto survey if there are no objects to pick up. This happens most often when the galaxy runs out of objects but I've seen it happen a couple of times when there were objects but none close within the survey ship's range. It will auto survey again if another object appears.

Also: If you have explored the whole map, and there are no more anomolies, leave the guy on auto - then when new anomolies appear, he will automatically chase them down.

yes just press 'A' when you have survey ship highlighted.

yes i figured that out now...and it is good i was playing a maso and hit a planetiod and got that space monster on the other side of the map and believe me the AI didn't seem to impressed when i claimed 50% of the resources and had a military 2 times their size :)
