Stinky Cheese

Although I think people have already reported this before.

In my last game, The Torians last planet revolted to some minor race. On the last turn before they left, I offered them 11000 credits per year for 50 years, for all of his tech (4-6 high level techs), 2 trade goods, and about 15 sovereigns.

Of course, I only had to pay the first installment.

I though that was fixed a long time ago. ~SDC~ I haven't tried to use it, so I can't say for sure, but I know people have said that it doesn't work.

I think it's also cheesy that they would trade with you at all after they had lost their last planet. No possible trade that didn't involve you giving them a planet would help them win the game, so they just shouldn't do it.

I got that I think in 1.19 or 1.2, but for Arcea. A few turns after, they became the I-League. Kinda wierd, but I thought that they could have that minor race conversion, so I didn't report it till now. :notsure:

I did the above in v1.49.

I don't think any race without a planet should be trading. In fact, I would argue they shouldn't even show up on the list of races to talk to. They're finished!

Oh wait, I suppose it's possible to capture a planet with your outstanding ships on your final turn... So maybe they aren't finished...

A player may also want to give a couple of planets to an AI to keep a trading partner around.

The solution to bc/month cheese is to have an empire pay the full price, even if the creditor is dead. On the other hand, tribute you receive should be cancel as soon as the tributee is gone.

Ah, the trade before death syndrome. My experience is that the AI don't know that they have lost their last planet. They play to the end like there was no tomorrow. :D LOL :D LOL :D LOL

Actually, I think this is an artifact of the turn-based game. You kill their last planet on your turn. They don't know it until after your turn. So if you want to trade while it is still your turn, you can - just as if they still had their planet. But, when it is their turn, they disappear into oblivion, where they belong :D LOL :D LOL :D LOL

Not sure how effective that would be, since you'd have to re-establish all the trade routes anyway, since obviously they were disrupted when he lost all his planets.

It is still more effective than having no trade partner at all. ;)

Mind you, I have used this only once, in a game where the fundie had taken all the Drengin and Yor planets in one fell swoop. I gave them each a couple of planets, told them they should really fight the fundie, and they proceeded to reclaim most of their former holdings. I did this because I was already committed to the evil path and there was this runaway Torian to deal with. So I was glad I could trade to a civ across the grave.

Jax, way to go!

Now now people... why wouldn't alien leaders be willing to trade you everything they know is lost to them for a few measy credits to live the rest of their life under a new name? You don't expect that all their leadership was on their last planet and didn't make it off, do you?

Think about it. If you knew your all your worlds were "gone", you wouldn't be willing to fill up your coffers and give all you have and know to someone that will "get revenge" for you? Or just to ruin things for the new conquestidors, even if it is a minor victory in a lost war?
