Latest GalCiv Patch Praised in game mag

Just got the new (May) issue of Computer Games magazine, and saw the Mods&Ends section has an item titled "Getting More Out of the Final Frontier" about the 1.2 patch of GalCiv.

In short it says "The best 4x space simulation to hit the PC in years just keeps getting better..." and goes on to describe the tweaks of the patch. "There have been so many (upgrades) released since the game was published in March of 2003 that its hard to keep count." Nothing is mentioned of the AP expansion.

And the very same issue has a full-page preview of Stardock's "The Political Machine" with three screen shots and quotes from an interview w/Brad Wardell. It calls the game "the first computer game attempt to simulate the rabble-rousing circus of chicanery that is the US electoral system."

Congrats to Stardock for both mentions :D .

I'll have to check that out. I've not gotten that far yet. I usually keep it in the can, and read it when I'm relaxing. I can make an issue last until I get the next one.

Yes, I keep that mag in one bathroom and Computer Gaming World in the other. The only time for leisure reading these days.

Tylertoo, did you already decide what empire to join, I have your ship still park in the Shipyard awaiting for you. It doesnot have a name yet, the Captain is the one who renames the shipas soon as he takes command over it. ;)

Hey, Tylertoo is still around! (never mind I responded earlier and didn't notice.) I'm glad Bam-Bam didn't scare you away.

If you need any help, let us know and somebody will be glad to help. :)

Tyelertoo joining an empire is real fun and you get to meet real cool people and others not so cool, but that is life about it. Come and join GROSS, we can make this game a better one together. ;)

Again, thanks, but I really, really want to keep this thread on-topic. And the topic is: a year after its release, GalCiv continues to get great national press like the article quoted above, and that will attract newbs like me to this game. I'm sure the good press will continue with reviews of AP.

Not everybody wants to be part of an empire. I agree.

The offer of help is always there though. So feel free to drop by one of the empire threads and ask one of these days.

Agreed nuf said. Lets go back on track. This has been one of the greatest game I have ever played, I wander if Stardock could take the task of creating a game similar to Caesar or Pharaoh? I have some great ideas about Civ games, I contacted Sierra Studios but they didn't bother to respond my e-mails. >:(
