Lost functions or need explanation

Hi.

I've been a LONGTIME Object Desktop user (all the way back to the OS/2 days), and had moved to the first windows version, and was using same on my Win2K laptop (Thinkpad A22p). Recently, upgraded via a clean install of XPPro, and re-bought Object Desktop latest/greatest.

I must say that the lastes Virtual Desktops is less flexible than the older version was. I'm missing, or for some reason the configuration window doesn't show any way to create "Locked Windows" for items I want to appear in all desktops.

I also do not like the "hide windows" mode that also filters the taskbar, as I have several programs that show changes in their taskbar icons, that draw my attention to them, so I can switch back to them. By clicking on the changed taskbar icon, I go right to the program in that desktop. The other mode, (mode 2), doesn't work as well.

Any chance of getting an option that does NOT filter the taskbar as part of Mode 1?

Also, on my Taskbar Popup menu, in the toolbars section, I still have the old "Virtual Desktops" selection as a toolbar, although it no longer works. How do I rid myself of that extra toolbar option? The one that works, is labeled "Stardock Virtual Desktops".

Oh, and hello Brad, it's your old CSI Sysop, Glenn Meadows.

Glenn.

As further info, I use Polarbar Mailer to do my email. It displays in the Taskbar Icon the number of UNREAD new messages that have been received. In the Virtual Desktop display of that program, the mini-view does NOT snow that number until I click into that desktop, then it updates. As I read the messages, the taskbar icon updates to show the remaing unread messages. BUT the Mini Display does NOT update until I switch to another desktop.

So, with the current Mode 1 operation, I no longer see the Taskbar Icon to tell me I've received new mail, and I have to switch back to that desktop periodically just to check for new mail.

Hope that helps describe the need to "Un-Filter" the task bar, or have the mini display in the virtual desktops properly update what's going on with the applications in each window.

Glenn

Hiya recordmaker1. If someone, not from Stardock, has an answer they're pretty good about responding to stuff on this board. I haven't used Virtual Desktops myself and haven't really seen a lot of questions about it. As for Stardock help, you'll probably have to wait until Monday when their offices are open to get some kind of answer from them.

Yes there's activity here
I guess no-one is using BandVWM the same as you are (at least I'm not) so I can't really help you. Better to not say anything rather than mislead!

I do know the 1.95 build 47 is still in beta so not all features are working and/or fully implemented.
