Computer Declaring War (bug?)

I'm in an intelligent, small game (with the most recent release), and the Yor collective and I have been duking it out for a bit.

Nothing much is happening, except the Yor destroying trading ships. I figure the war isn't worth it, at the moment, so I sue for peace.. one tech added in, and they are happy to oblige.

Their relations change to Cool. I press the turn button, and I see the Yor attack one of my trading ships again! No, 'YOu must be assimilated' message, or any indication they declared war on me except for the actual act... and sure enough, when I go to look at relations, they are now at war with me again. The next time I sue for peace, the same thing happens... any one have any idea whats going on?

Is that a bug or are the Yor 'messing' with you? Perhaps you aren't holding enough military standing for them to be concerned, and the peace treaty with technology is simply a way of them getting the most out of a situation! Build up a large military and start hitting them back. No need to invade, just destroy their defenses. It'll change their tune! :)

aethis,

Do you happen to be at war with a Yor ally?

In a similar vein, I have found myself at war with an AI with no declaration of war prior to them attacking some ship of mine. I shrugged it off since it didn't make much difference gameplay-wise, but I am curious if it's a bug or a 'sneak attack by design'.

We hold about similar miltary rankings, according to the graphs. I'm not at war with anyone else, in fact my relations with everyone else are Friendly.

I was curious to see if others had this attack with no warning -- I know they wanted to get away from people attacking/peace/attacking turn after turn, so I was curious to see why the computer was doing it. :notsure:

At any rate, I'm not sure if it's a bug, a strategy of the AI, or what.. but it'd at least be nice to see a, 'The Yor Collective has declared war on you.' message after/before they attack.

I've sighted this too, but actually noticed it when I attacked one of the opponent's ships.

It looks like that the "at war" flag doesn't get cleared properly, and finds its way back into the actual relation.

Hmm - I've only seen this with the tradeship, and that was a known bug. (In the known bug, enemy vessels carried out the previously ordered attack even though you made peace in the middle - and the attack put you back at war.)

Actually what will happen is the following scenario.

1. You duked it out with the AI
2. You sue for peace
3. You have offensive ships sitting in the enemy's sector

Now I've had it happen several times where they will sneak attack me because I have a acouple ships that just happen to be in the same sector as their planets. And they just plain hit me for no reason other than that I apparently offend them with the ships in their presence. I found that if I no ships in any of their sectors (by their sectors, I mean AI owned sectors with planets

Does this match up any with what's going on?
