A few thoughts

I just played 2-3 full games, one with a military win, one with a diplomatic victory, and I think I got tired for the last one :)

1. I would like to see some mechanism telling you what is going on in the universe, who is warring who, who declares on who, and so on. Perhaps some information on the wars as well (perhaps through espionage or some form).

Often times, I don't realize what is going on until I start seeing civilizations disappearing from my foreign affairs screen.

2. I would like to be able to propose ways to end a war between two civilizations, not via the UP. I know it was discussed at one point, just wanted to bring it up again.

3. Selecting the UP topics? I have no idea if this is planned or in the works, but it would be much nicer than random voting.

4. Races in the UP. I noticed that the only races in the UP were the ones that I personally had contacted...and the two that I did not find until mid game, were not present until that time...perhaps it would be more realistic that as long as one civilization is in contact with one that is in the UP, it would be invited to join as well?

5. Minor races. I would like to be able to fully back a minor race, send them tech, military, basicall keeping them up later in the game...Perhaps a way to 'proclaim sponsorship' of the minor race, making other races think twice of taking them over? Perhaps a formal alliance?

Just a few ideas/thoughts...I might think of some more later :)

Great game so far though, I quite enjoy it.

Oh, also something else I have noticed. Usually about midgame for me, certain graphs have a tendency to 'break' or stop graphing....just showing a straight line at the bottom.

Usually seen doing this is the tech graph, sometimes the manufacturing as well.

Also, when I am allied to two civilizations, and they decide to war eachother, perhaps I can mediate there?

I love the idea of a yearly summary screen of what's going on in the galaxy.

Will work on that this week.

Another option I would like to see incorporated, is the ability to bypass going through your planets when something is built.

As it stands now, you can assign a governor, so all the planets have a building queue. But when each finishes something, you get alerted to it, and you have to go to that screen, hit ok, and continue on. When you start to get a large empire, and pump the social projects, this can get very very tedious :)

Perhaps a button on the message you get alerting you of buildings finished that says "Ok, Continue on" or something, allowing you to skip that process, and the planet automatically goes to the next queue?

I agree Cain. In the OS/2 version if they had a governor it didn't bring up the dialog. We need an option that says:

Don't show planet screen on events if governed.

I find that I need to know what planets are getting low on morale, and I particularly like knowing this when the planet finishes a social or military project. Could we have something that says: If the planet completed a project and its morale is below (slider value)% then display the completion panel for this planet.

My memory of the OS/2 version is sketchy at best...been quite a while since I played it.

For morale though, its quite easy to pull up your planets page, and skim down looking at the morale, which is shown quite obviously if i remember correctly.

'Oh, also something else I have noticed. Usually about midgame for me, certain graphs have a tendency to 'break' or stop graphing....just showing a straight line at the bottom.'

In the case of the tech graph, it's the research points you lost on the last turn the current tech is researched that causes that. Research doesn't appear to roll over like military manufacturing does. I'm not sure if social manufaturing rolls over or not, but if it doesn't, that would explain that as well.

I could be misunderstanding, but I don't think that's it. I've seen it before too, on other graphs besides tech. And it goes "flatline" for all the races, not just Humanity...so at some point in the game, you go to look at that graph, and there's just a single flat line at the bottom.

One thing the GC/OS2 had that has not (yet?) appeared in this version is a warning window that lists the planets that are in risk of revolt. Since I have not heard anything specifically relating to this, may I ask if something is in the works for this? (And if yes, what?)

Thanks,

I haven't been playing for long, but has anyone actually had a planet revolt? What happens?

mdloafer,

My impression is that the morale code is not yet complete in that it doesn't include some of the more dire consequences of letting your populations get out of control. Perhaps Cari, Brad, or Scott can take a moment to tell us more?

Not implimented yet, AFAIK. That's part of the moral code that's just now in the process of being laid down.

I just saw BoogieBac's response to the thread "update guys please" by Steevodeevo. I think a lot of us are going to be hard pressed to be patient waiting for it. I still need a "drool" face to select from the smiley faces at the right of this screen.

any responce on the idea of mediating wars,

it would give it an added touch of realism and as far as I know, no other game has anything like it.

it'll be nice to play a game where you can do more with politics than just sign treaties and declare war

One thing we haven't implemented that I'm really surprised about (we will be adding it) is that we don't do a very good job communicating in lists and dialogs whether a given planet's star system is defended or not.

Right now, there is only the shield. But We really need a (undefended) statement in every dialog or every info about a planet when it's listed if it's not defended since that is so important.

Agreed. And I am very supprised none of us have commented on it.

we're all so peaceful that we never expect to be attacked!

On supporting the minor races, that seems to be in (at least minorly). I was able to give tech and money t them. I even colonized a crappy little sun betwen me and a major race and traded it to the minor race in return for them declaring war on the major race. Worked quite well.

Great Idea does the major race find out and declare war on you ?
