I've tried google sidebar thing, and i'ts a bit crap. Does anyone know of a good sidebar that - 1. Looks a bit like the vista one (not so important) 2. Uses some sort of 'standard' gadget/widget available from the net 3. Has the ability to add shortcuts to programs 4. Is free - most important! Thankyou.

I'm planning on removing the screen from my old laptop and turning it into an mp3 player. Perhaps with a small text lcd. Anyway, I'm going to need a joypad controled mp3 player to run on win98 (or xp) so that I can play songs from the hard drive. I'm currently using a playstation controller adapter with a playstation remote, it detects as a 16 button joypad so the player must handle any amount of buttons. Does anyone know of such a player?

is there such a thing? I've just ordered an apple mighty mouse for use with my pc, according to all i have read about it, it will work fine in winxp, but i wont be able to change what any of the buttons do, and the scroll ball will only work up/down, not left/right. I was hoping there would be a generic driver somewhere (perhaps for another usb 4 button mouse or scrollball mouse) that would work with it?

my laptop randomly didnt load windows all the way, most of the time it would switch off during windows loading, i tried the usual things, safemode did exactly the same, i checked for over heating, power connection etc. turns out windows either hadnt installed properly, or i corrupted it later, reinstalling windows fixed my problem completely (of cource booting up to backup my stuff took a while).

I open it now and then to repair the power connector, the solder comes loose now and then. Its perfectly fine after windows loads up, it just takes my four or fivr goes to get it that far. I've started to think windows hasnt installed properly or perhaps my hard drive is going bad. As for its age its about 4 years old and has been used almost every day sinse it was bought. what is a head spreader? do you mean that whacking great sheet of metal attached to the cpu? it so, then it has one, and

Recently my laptop has started to power down during booting into windows. The loading screen appears, usually for about 5 seconds(ish) then it looses power. (the battery has not worked for about two years now, so it is premanently plugged into the wall). It's at the point where it looses powere more often than it boots up. does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

This might sound like a wierd question, but can WB tell the differenct between wich apps its skinning, eg, does it know the difference between explorer and notepad, and if so, can i use that information in a skin?

For a while now, my laptop battery hasn't worked at all, it doesn't charge at all (although the chagring LED flashes like it's supposed to) the battery is one of those so called 'intelligent' ones (DR202) anyway, after a little google-ing, it seams that intelligent batteries are quite stupid and if let run down (0%) they don't like being charged again. Assumingh this to be the case, I had a look on google yet again, this time for a software soluti

It seems that Bootskin Plus was accidentally added to stardoc central recently, and promply removed. I realise that it was pre-alha, and nodoubt has a whole bunch of bugs, but could it be placed back for download, perhaps with a disclaimer about being no support etc. I was one of the many users not 'there at the right time' to download it before it was removed. The knowlage of BS+ has wet the appitites of a lot of wincustomize forum users, it would be a little cru

Does anyone knoe if explorer background images will ever return to WB? they were last seen in WB3.x. The only way to acjeive this now, is to manually set the background image in every folder, which can take a very long time and does not make a difference to the ope/save dialog window background.

I've been using WB sinse 3.x, I've have no problems with it. The only things that cause problems with windows, is the amount of stuff people have in their startup, Ive see screenshots of peoples desktops with 20 or more icons in the systray, all they do is slow your system down. As for photoshop, it is slow anyway, It loads every single thing you MIGHT need when it starts, what do you expect. So you got the whold object desktop,
