Each type of hull has a size. The components added (except visuals) take up that space. But more than one impulse drive should fit... are you upgrading or starting from scratch? if you are upgrading maybe it has other engines already? Are you sure it IS a cargo hull? If all these questions do not help you find the answer, then MAYBE just MAYBE you have a bug. But make sure to look everywhere for info (tutorials) first.
Unfortunately the one you upgrade as an "example" still has to separate from fleets and the like. wastes precious movement moving them then moving them back. I think when you "obselete" a design the question rather than being decomissioning of the class in question it rather asks if you want to upgrade anywhere from none, to all of that old class. After that you have the option to decomission the remaining obsolete class. This would be very nice.
The manual is on the menu when you launch the game. And you can access the tech tree when deciding what to research (well not quite the whole thing at once). So what's the problem? If you can't remember a password, that's not Stardock's problem. I'm not pissed at you personally, I just am pissed seeing all these topics around here that are resolved in the manual, or the site, or the readme, or the tutorials... I thought this was supposed to be the last resort? And yes, I am awaiting my box.
I haven't even seen anything better than class 15 yet... and that's only with bonuses. Jeez... well it IS a gigantic galaxy so I'm hoping some other sectors will have more to offer.
