Can RTS's run in a server/client based configuration? Yes. Why have nearly all RTS's steered away from server/client? My guess is cost but I don't know. I thought I saw Frogboy mention early in the Elemental journals that because of the Demigod fiasco that Elemental may be client/server but don't quote me on that.
I think he said Elemental would be client/server in an interview at PAX? Someone posted a link rec
Hopefully any other MP game from you guys can just be server/client based, and then dont have to worry about port-forwarding/connection issues/high bandwidth requirements/stuff running in the background . Are you holding onto some hope that Stardock would develop a First-Person Shooter game? That would be interesting. RTS multiplayer games are pretty much subject to p2p networking; not client/server. That aside, GPG developed the game.[
Lesson I’ve learned is that every strategy game in the future that has MP needs to have not just ping but a quickly throughput rating so that people who have stuff running in the background can be ejected. Sorry, just something that drives me crazy about playing online with random strangers. I think some people might also assume you're using some hax to force a gamestate error so you don't have your losses recorded.
I would agree # of games or higher win percentage than 50. I think mine is around..54%. I would consider myself intermediate.
This would be very cool, especially for when someone disconnects.
I have saved the replays of several online games. When I click replay in the main menu, there is just an empty list. I have several replays in what I assumed is the appropriate folder: My Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Demigod\replays\Kilmor I renamed this folder to lowercase(kilmor), and now replays are showing up correctly. Please fix this, as it is clearly a bug, thank you.
Premades are only an issue because there is no integrated voice chat. Which should be the next major feature I think, having to type stuff in when you're in the thick of battle is pretty far from pleasant.
A usable item from the artifact shop, like say a "Skeleton Key" that costs Alot (2500gp maybe?) that could remove a capture lock would be awesome. Expensive enough to only be used in dire situations, but gives a team a chance to get their portals back.
An oak model that makes him look like a samurai with big-ass sword. Instead of wings, regulus has a jet-pack. Candy-Rook: Shoots candycanes instead of arrows, has a giant lolly-pop instead of a hammer. Catapult shoots gumdrops. Histowers look like pez dispensers with the other dg's heads on them. Rolls a big gumball(or jawbreaker) instead of a rock. Eye of Sauron: Let you see through the fog of war to any section of th
there are artifacts that have crit multipliers, most likely explanation.
Hmmm ok. I've got a triple monitor setup at work and the main two are set up so that, as you say, maximizing will fill both screens. This is in linux with nvidia cards but I assumed something similar would be do-able in windows, basically a screen resolution of...2100x1680
Obscenitor, did you have the game spanning both monitors?
I'm going to be upgrading my computer soon and plan to have two monitors turned 90 degrees (ie vertically). Has anyone ran demigod successfully with this configuration?
Players can always drop items for you, but not alot do so, and its somewhat wordy to always type out "Hey can someone buy me a xyz?" Until we get integrated voice chat, that is :\ What would be cool would be if you could mark items in the shop that you want. And then when someone hovers over your char, it could show a little bit at the bottom like "Wants: boots of speed, teleport scroll" , and in the shop, it could pop up when you hover over an item: "Wanted by
Re people who say "fix bugs". I think it goes without saying that when bugs are found, they're added to the list of things to address.
So does that mean sludge slinger will be fixed in the next update? It would help if there was a sticky post of Known Issues, at least we would know that problems have even been acknowledged on the Stardock/GPG side.
Isn't there a squelch feature in demigod? I'm sure games would go better if you didn't have hear ___holes in the first place.
This. I've been wanting a squelch/mute option since I started playing months ago, and have repeatedly asked about it. The instant games become full of DotA assholes calling you names , i'm out, and i'll probably never bother giving stardock any more $$ since they couldnt be bothered t
Something percentage-based on both hp and mana would be a more univesally useful item i think... Something like: Passive: -20% health total, +50% mana total Active: +20% health total, -50% mana total Anyone might find a use for something like that, depending on build and playstyle. Numbers adjustable to whatever balances best, of course. This at least would continute to be relevant as you level. Make the icon for it a ying-yang too, i dunn
Part of the problem in general I think is that the payout for kills starts out too high, esp with assists. Like a 1v1, you get what, 600 gp, but if anyone else helps they also get 300 gp. So the same kill could give alot more gold to the killing team as a whole, depending on how many ppl managed to get a hit in. payouts for assists and kills in proportion to how much dmg each dg actually dealt would help alleviate the need for something like this. But
I just got this as well. didnt alt-tab and wasn't hosting. I'm sorry but if the game.prefs file is causing so many problems, then there needs to be more validation when parsing it and fix the file if somthing is wrong. basic data input here ppl, this is shit that you would give as a programming assignment in a 1st year coding class.
Maybe someone just grabbed a +% hp flag

Agreed, not being able to bind to those keys is extremely annoying, please fix it GPG.
Something else that Could be cool is if you could buy a one-time super-strong unit that would spawn with the creeps, like a "Spawn of Unclean Beast(or whoever buys it)" or something like that. Maybe make it a little stronger than giants, but only spawns once. Would be great for right after taking over an enemies portal near their base. Or if it was an item in the artifact shop that you could cast on a creep, make the spawn explode out of it.
I would really like an option to buy back towers that have been destroyed. Maybe its really expensive but, it would help to rebalance the match if you got behind a little in the beginning. Like each time you buy it it replaces a destroyed tower, starting from closest to your citadel and going outward.
