Heh that's an optimistic post Frogboy, hope it has an effect. The difference in GC2 forums and even Sins forums from a game such as Demigod is the difference between what kind of player is attracted to Single Player games and who is attracted to multiplayer games. Multiplayer gaming and with it, competitive gaming seems to come hand in hand with quite a few behaviours that turn off the kind of people who play Sins/GC2 and of course who frequent them forum
Yeah I worked that one out for accident when I got the game. It was funny last night when playing with friends one of my friends was complaining that teleport scrolls weren't working for him. About 5 minutes later another friend asked why are there teleport scrolls everywhere? [e digicons]XD[/e]
Personally, I think this kind of stuff should be built into the OS. As a game developer, I can’t even begin to express how frustrated I am that we have to do all this. If this were an Xbox game or a PS3 game, we wouldn’t have to do any of this. We’d simply hand the user off to the manufacturer’s already included super mega system and it would take care of it. I could rant for hours on (as you can imagine, I’m extremely tire
With the Sedna / Regulus combo going on the way to handle them is actually really simple. Split your dps. Have one person on Regulus, preferably the Beast, you said you could handle him easily as Erebus but if the Beast is high enough he is the best for killing him. While the Beast goes on Regulus you stick on Sedna. If she heals Reg then she is gonna be in trouble pretty damn quick and you can chase her down (don't let her Heart of Life if you can help it). Re
This is a perfect example of why I try not to get drawn in to arguments on the internet but I am just sick of thieving pirate scum claiming there is nothing wrong with what they do. Anyways I'm leaving this thread now with a simple quote: Never argue with idiots, they drag you down to their own level and beat you by experience.
I'm afraid you appear to be the cretin. We arn't talking about the individual, but the collective, the corperation. They provide a product (be it a game, a movie, an internet connection a microwave etc etc). The people behind that product have been paid for producing it already. As for bringing down Stardocks servers, Frogboy has already admitted that was Stardocks fault for being stupid and doing things backward
@Mishyu Morally there is nothing much wrong with try before you buy, but in reality all these people claiming they try before they buy, how many of the games do they actually buy? I would suspect it's in the single figure %. Is that fair? Of course it's not, "The vast majority of movies made are utter shit" is just an excuse to steal steal and then steal. The truth is that loser has watched a ton of movies and returned next to no money to the movie industry, his comm
As someone said above "Piracy is just another word for stealing." i do not agree with this. Stealing is when you take a physical object that has a cost to produce copies. Now with piracy you actually make a copy of something without it costing anything extra to produce. (I know ,i know, lots will say you cant use this as an argument but i do.) Therefor its no stealing.
That legal definition w
My opinion on "piracy" is that we need a new word for it. File-sharing is a better, more neutral word. I understand that companies need to make money, but we also have to understand the realities of the world we now live in. I myself am a game developer and I plan on actually distributing the game ourselves on torrent websites. It is more exposure. More people playing your game = a good thing.
<stron
I was looking at getting either the Witcher Enhanced Edition or Mass Effect for the PC but I'm in the UK. I can't get either of these on Steam and Impulse wants little shy of £30(!) for Witcher EE which is a bit rich considering I thought it was an old game I would be able to get on the cheap. So far the best price for Mass Effect I have found is a digital download from Gamers Gate for £14.95 and the Witcher not so much luck. I've tried using a proxy server t
The second way: Make a cut down version of the game for the demo. Only 1 map/arena and only unranked skirmish matches. No favour or favour items. The demigod you play is picked randonly for demo players so that they get to try at all the demigods. Only one small demo map that plays out in about 5 mins or less just to give a flavour of the full game. The demo players would only play vs demo players otherwise it wouldnt be
For limiting the demo I would propose that people download the demo from Impulse, requiring an Impulse account. Then you could limit the amount of games a player can have to something like 5 to 10. You can't limit the demo to 1 demigod because either 1 ) We get shit loads of noob rooks in multiplayer gaming, people will just quit when they enter a game and see 2 Rooks on their team etc or 2 )<
just thought id throw it out there but. "video games are the new great things since movies" they costs roughly the same to create but rack in a whole lot more
Please ease my confusion because I had a wtf moment, you think video games make more money?
Did you make this post because you feel some sort of need to be righteous and correct in everything you do? You're so pretentious.
It's pretentious to say stealing is bad [e digicons][/e]
I think it's mostly students to be honest, I don't think there are many full time employed late 20 something guys sitting there downloading games. At least I hope so, anyone who works hard for a living and then robs off of someone else trying to scratch a living is a pretty low life form.
I have no idea, I have the exact same issue, in fact I'd go as far as to say 1 on 1 UB > Regulus. Yeah yeah the game isn't balanced around 1 on 1, we all realise that but honestly the best thing you can do is to find a different area of the map. Mine flags aswell ofcourse but most later game UBs I encounter have crazy health regen anyway so it doesn't make a huge difference. If it comes down to a fight you may win (you have an ally) the best approach is MoB, lay mines a
Nice post. After playing more games, I still run into the same problem. It doesn't matter what DG I use. I just fully think that Spits range is just too far. Spit wouldnt be so bad if it didn't sap your health as fast it does... it also has a relatively low cooldown... combine that would Ubs natural speed advantage... spit (from quite a long distance).. then run... wait for cooldown... catch up with DG.. and then spit again.... is jus
Well there are a hell of a lot of differences of programming AI for a turn based game to a real time game. But more importantly, I don't think Brad did the AI on Demigod, I think GPG did that.
I don't have Xfire, what is it? I use Skype or Ventrilo for voice comms normally.
Am I the only one who hates the way in video game terms 'heavy role playing elements' or 'rpg elements' means that the characters level up and get new skills/stats? It's nothing to do with role playing in my opinion and it's sort of an abortion of the term.
I've had loads of troubles playing online in the UK. I've only really done a handful of Pantheon games and a number of games with 3 friends of mine who I got to buy the game (do I get a medal?). Even between friends though we've been having issues getting games going, one of my friends and I 9 times out of 10 are not connecting to each other in game lobbies and it's causeing our clients to crash. So eventually last night we turned to GameRanger and had 1 successful(ish) ga
