I'll probably pick it up - since I never got around to it the first time around. And if I can log out of The Lord of the Rings Online long enough to eat.

MaarekStele, it is a fair question. You don't need to connect to the internet/web/be online for alot of games. I figured it had something to do with the MP functionality. Not a big deal, was just curious. By the way I am not an AOL user. Let's stick to the questions asked without the commentary.
For some strange reason Fallout 3 letterboxes 1440 x 810, instead of 1440 x 990. Not a big deal for my widescreen, don't really notice the letterboxing, but strange nonetheless.
Made the stock person at Walmart dig it out of cold storage yesterday morning about 0700 am. Wanted to make sure I had a copy. However I've got several games going on right now I'm trying to finish - Neverwinter Nights 2 Gold, The Witcher (thanks Stardock!), STALKER - ClearSky (not to mention all the CIV IV /expansion packs you never really stop playing). Once I've cleared the decks a bit will install FO3 and give it a whirl. Spent over 300 hours in Oblivi
I've never liked Steam, but it is becoming a dice roll to determine whether or not they look the other way with publishers still wanting their own DRM on top of Steam. Case in Point - STALKER Clear Sky - online Steam version still has activation limits imposed by Deep Silver.
With the Orwellian DRM that keeps getting worse I might just have to go back to board games. Think of all the money saved by not having to upgrade graphics cards every couple of years! [e digicons]:moon:[/e]
Last game I played with ads was Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 - game websites and automakers hawking their stuff in Mexico. Yeah right. So much for immersion.
I'd be curious if the login requirements for Company of Heroes - Opposing Fronts will still be part of launching the game (even if don't play Multiplayer). I purchased when it came out and just blocked in the firewall and let Securom handle the DRM silliness. Better the devil you know....
I've been interested in Titan Quest out of curiosity - might have a sale here...
Wondering if the v .50 is just setting up to listen on a port in case you click MP later/uses the same executable?
I was having some trouble getting a scenario started through the Quick Play tab on the main menu to load the scenario I had chose (Obama vs. McCain). It would get to the "loading" screen and just hang. Firewall wasn't warning me or anything. Figured out that TPM2008 exe needs to connect to the internet - enabled through Zone Alarm (keep in mind never saw a popup from ZA), and my single player non - campaign games load just fine. This started after the multiplayer upd
Weird. I did something a bit different - moved the SarahPalincfg.xml (something like that) out of the candidate configurations xml folder and to the desktop, launched game and got a generic female (long hair/no glasses). Closed game and dragged original Sarah Palin xml file back where it belongs, and woo hoo my girl is back after a relaunch! Hair and all!
I'll give that a try...
[e digicons]:-"[/e] Hello, Stardock? Seriously, not that big a deal for now.
Just finished a game of TPM 2008 - noticed that after McCain/Palin beat Obama/Biden that Sarah Palin in the victory screen has absolutely no hair. This appears to show up that way in the Print Shop as well. Looks like the only places she has hair is in the main menu and pick list for candidates, as well as in the main game screen. Never noticed this before the last patch - anyone else seeing this?
2 new races - the Securoms and the Stardocks!
Very good question - I've wondered the same thing. Couldn't find where the promised "redownload" link is. Within Stardock Central, Impulse, or otherwise.
Those of you seeing these issues - what are your system specs, including OS? Wonder if there are some common characteristics, since some folks don't seem to see the issues.
The "going to bed" suggestion is interesting! I've often got up and used the john/ate lunch. Worse case scenario is Pirates bum - rush me and I'd need to reload my pre - loo save. Hasn't happened yet!
I'm a newbie too (for about 2 weeks now) - the game not RTS in general. I've done some of the suggestions above - start out with Pirates off, one rival faction to start, and tailored them as "easy agressor", "easy resource" etc until I got a feel for the rhythm of the game. Starting to bump up the risk a bit - turning on Pirates and getting a feel for that part of the game. At same time going from small to medium to large maps - just mixing it up a bit by trial and error once
I'm running a Core 2 Duo 1.86 ghz stock clock with a 7600 GT EVGA 256 mb card on XP Home (have Vista too, but haven't installed there). Runs great/looks great. What an awesome game.
